What You’ll Do & Bring
As a Dental Patient Services Specialist (DPSS), you’ll serve as the first point of contact for patients—delivering exceptional customer service while managing front desk operations and ensuring a smooth dental visit experience from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide outstanding customer service to patients, families, and community partners
- Schedule appointments, confirm visits, and manage patient flow using OpenEMR
- Register patients, update demographics, and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate
- Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA policies
- Answer calls, triage patient needs, and route communications appropriately
- Assist patients with insurance, payment plans, and Good Faith Estimates
- Collect payments, post transactions, and reconcile daily cash drawer
- Support both check-in and check-out processes, including follow-up scheduling
- Maintain organized workspaces, waiting areas, and patient-facing environments
- Address patient concerns professionally and escalate when needed
What You Bring:
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of customer service experience in a medical or dental setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of office systems, EHRs, and multi-line phone systems
- Attention to detail with a patient-first mindset
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and care
- Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish
- Preferred: Experience with dental insurance and third-party payers (Medicaid, Medicare, commercial)
