Position Summary

The Department of Physics within The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University invites applications for an Assistant Instructional Professional position in Physics. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, fixed-term faculty appointment with an anticipated start date of September 15, 2026. Assistant Instructional Professionals are non-tenure eligible faculty members who contribute to the instructional mission of the department through teaching, laboratory management, and student support activities.

Essential Functions

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate physics courses and serve as a member of the Physics Instructional Resource Team (PIRT), supporting the delivery and operation of instructional laboratories. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses; managing in-person and/or online laboratory sections; supporting and training teaching assistants; assisting students with laboratory instruction and course-related concerns; assigning and submitting final grades; coordinating laboratory setup, maintenance, and teardown; overseeing laboratory equipment acquisition, repair, and inventory; scheduling laboratory sections; implementing and supporting laboratory safety policies and training; and performing other instructional and service-related duties as assigned. The approximate distribution of effort is teaching (25%), instructional support and laboratory operations (70%), and service (5%).
