About this Position

Reporting to the Title IX Coordinator, the Deputy Title IX Coordinator assists in administering the University''s Title IX, ADA, Section 504, and Equal Opportunity compliance programs. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator supports the University''s commitment to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive educational and working environment through complaint resolution, investigations, accommodations, education, outreach, and regulatory compliance.

The position serves as a key resource to students, faculty, staff, and administrators by conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations; coordinating reasonable accommodations; developing training programs; monitoring compliance with applicable federal and state laws; and assisting with implementation of University policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Title IX Coordinator in administering the University''s Title IX, ADA, Section 504, and Equal Opportunity compliance programs.
  • Coordinate and conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations involving Title IX, ADA, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and related policy violations involving faculty, staff, students, and applicants.
  • Manage formal and informal complaint resolution processes in accordance with federal regulations, University policy, and due process requirements.
  • Conduct interviews, gather and evaluate evidence, prepare investigative reports, and recommend findings and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources, Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Student Conduct, the Langston University Police Department, Legal Affairs, and other University offices regarding investigations and compliance matters.
  • Coordinate and facilitate reasonable accommodations for students, faculty, staff, and applicants in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating institution-wide training and prevention programs related to Title IX, ADA, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and equal opportunity.
  • Coordinate campus climate assessments and analyze trends to evaluate institutional compliance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare reports, statistical analyses, compliance summaries, and related documentation for the Title IX Coordinator, executive leadership, regulatory agencies, and other University officials, as appropriate.
  • Assist in the development and revision of University policies, procedures, and educational materials related to Title IX, ADA, and Equal Opportunity.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant to faculty, staff, students, and administrators regarding applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in outreach activities that promote awareness of Title IX, ADA, equal opportunity, accessibility, and the University''s commitment to an inclusive campus environment.
  • Maintain confidential records and documentation in accordance with applicable laws and University policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Title IX Coordinator.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Human Resources, Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Education, or a related field. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in Title IX, Equal Opportunity, ADA, Human Resources, Student Conduct, compliance, employee relations, civil rights investigations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting investigations involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or other workplace or student conduct matters.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master''s degree in Human Resources, Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • Experience administering Title IX and ADA compliance programs within higher education.
  • Title IX Investigator, Civil Rights Investigator, ADA Coordinator, ATIXA, or other related professional certification.
  • Experience developing and delivering compliance training programs.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Thorough knowledge of Title IX, ADA, Section 504, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, Clery Act, and other applicable federal and state civil rights laws.
  • Knowledge of current Title IX regulations and emerging legal developments affecting institutions of higher education.
  • Demonstrated investigative interviewing, evidence evaluation, report writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and manage highly sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse campus constituencies.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other web-based software systems.
  • Ability to travel between University campuses and attend occasional evening or weekend meetings or investigations as needed.
