Job Description

Bard College seeks a Deputy Title IX Coordinator to join the Office of Title IX and Nondiscrimination. Reporting to the Title IX Coordinator, the Deputy Title IX Coordinator works collaboratively to manage the daily operations of intake, supportive measures, and triage. This role responds to reports of sexual misconduct, relationship violence, stalking, and gender-based discrimination. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator ensures institutional compliance with Title IX, VAWA, and Clery Act regulations while leading prevention and education initiatives for both Bard College and Simon's Rock.

Bard College's main campus is in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., with 1,900 undergraduate students; the College also includes multiple graduate programs. Responsibilities

  • Case management and triage: Receive and review reports and coordinate supportive measures, such as no contact orders and academic accommodations, to ensure equal access to education
  • Conduct trauma-informed intake: Receive complaints and discuss options regarding policy violations, utilizing a trauma-informed approach to ensure the process does not re-traumatize participants
  • Provide support: Serve as a primary point of contact for involved parties, providing referrals to counseling, medical, and legal resources
  • Develop and facilitate campus-wide training and workshops on consent, healthy relationships, and reporting
  • Lead awareness initiatives such as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, social media messaging, and poster campaigns
  • Build relationships across campus in an effort to further develop trust between the office and the Bard community
  • Maintain detailed case documentation to track trends and ensure adherence to federal (Title IX, VAWA, Clery) and New York State (129-B) laws
  • Facilitate informal resolution processes, such as mediation or restorative justice, when appropriate and agreed upon by all parties
  • Administer the biennial Sexual and Related Misconduct/Title IX Climate Survey and assist in the periodic review of institutional policies
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Student Affairs, Safety and Security, Residence Life and Housing, the Dean of the College, and legal counsel to maintain a coordinated response to campus incidents
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3-5 years of experience in investigative work, student conduct, or counseling, specifically working with trauma or sexual misconduct
  • Knowledge of Title IX, VAWA, the Clery Act, and FERPA
  • Proficiency in trauma-informed interviewing
  • Experience with Google Workspace and case management software, such as Maxient
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to manage highly sensitive, confidential information and de-escalate high-pressure situations
  • Ability to present educational programs and/or workshops
  • Unquestionable integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in a wide variety of situations
  • Strong organizational, planning, and administrative skills; with the ability to work on numerous matters at once
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MSW, JD, or Master's in Higher Education Administration/Counseling)
  • Experience implementing Restorative Justice practices
  • Commitment to the goals of a liberal arts education and working with a diverse community

Compensation: $70,000-$75,000 annually

This salary range reflects the Colleges good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
