The primary responsibility of the Design Engineer supports efforts to ensure that the packaging mechanical portion of the project is technically sound, on schedule and within cost. Develops necessary technical skills, professional presence, and project experiences to be able to work independently on some aspects of projects as assigned. Manages assigned project work as directed by supervisor.Job Responsibilities Packaging Systems Knowledge Develops solutions for packaging challenges using experience and industry knowledgeStays current on packaging equipment and trendsAssists with planning and coordination of packaging line design, operations, and equipment selectionDesign Prepares accurate design calculations and specificationsDevelops line designs, equipment specs, RFQs, and bid packagesSupports bid reviews and CAD layout developmentApplies CAD standards and best practicesEquipment & System Integration Reviews vendor proposals and evaluates system optionsIdentifies cost-saving/value improvement opportunitiesCollaborates on system sequencing and controlsHelps plan and execute factory testing (FAT)Construction Support Assists with site testing (SAT), drawing updates, and field issue resolutionReviews shop drawings and supports inspections, reports, and RFIsProject Coordination Supports schedule and budget trackingCoordinates with vendors from design through project closeoutBudget Awareness Designs within budget and flags scope changesProfessional Development Actively builds technical skillsTeam Contribution Supports team development and collaborationTravel Up to 50%To thrive in this role, you'll need: Bachelor of Engineering degree required. Degree from accredited curriculum (NCARB or ABET) preferred.Engineer in Training (EiT/FE) Certification preferredEnvironmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information.
