    Description

    Design Performance Internship - San Antonio Lake Flato Architects is a nationally recognized architectural design firm based in San Antonio, Texas. A leader in sustainability, we are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive professional who could fill the one-year full-time paid Design Performance Intern position. The Design Performance Intern works closely with the design performance team on a broad range of tasks. Core Responsibilities:• Assist the design performance with climate analysis, energy and solar modeling, water collection analysis, embodied carbon and material health analysis, and post-occupancy evaluation • Support sustainability certification efforts, including documentation and project team support for programs such as WELL, Zero Carbon, CORE, LEED, and the Living Building Challenge • Help track and maintain project and design data required for AIA 2030 Commitment and Material Pledge reporting • Assist the marketing team with project and design data for AIA awards and other industry recognition programs • Help maintain in-house sustainability resources, tools, and processes • Assist with various design technology tools • Support design performance research initiatives Preferred Qualifications:We welcome candidates from a variety of backgrounds and do not expect applicants to meet every qualification listed below.• Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, environmental design, building science, or a related field; ideally suited for candidates between undergraduate and graduate programs • LEED AP, WELL AP, or other sustainable design accreditation • Background or coursework in sustainable design, building science, passive design strategies, climate-responsive design, and/or renewable energy systems • Knowledge of building performance analysis related to daylight, energy, PV, water, embodied carbon, material health, and/or ventilation• Working knowledge of Revit, Rhino, and/or SketchUp • Experience with Autodesk Forma, Revit Insight, ClimateStudio, Grasshopper, and/or Tally LCA • Skills in data organization and graphic representation using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office • Strong organization, communication, and multitasking skills • A proactive, self-directed approach to learning and collaboration Application: To be considered for a student internship position, please submit the following to internship@lakeflato.com: • Format email with subject line 'Design Performance Intern Application'• Digital Portfolio (10MB max)• Resume & Cover Letter• Your availability dates for interning (ideally a one-year commitment) When applying, please include responses to the following questions in your email: • How did you hear about Lake Flato?• Are you legally authorized to work in the U.S.?• Will you now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status?• Can you perform the essential functions of the job for which you are applying, with or without a reasonable accommodation?• What date are you available to start working?
