Title: Design System Lead
Location: Merrifield, VA
Employment Type: Contract
Compensation:
Pay Range;$65.00-$71.00 Per Hr
Description
Lead the design-system experience for a product platform ensuring alignment with broader enterprise direction.
Bridge design, engineering, product, and accessibility to maintain usability, scalability, and consistency.
Focus on strategic development, governance, and adoption of design-system practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve quality, consistency, and delivery speed.
Translate enterprise standards into practical platform implementation and documentation.
Ensure platform solutions meet user, business, and accessibility needs.
Support CI/CD and release-process improvements for design-system assets.
Key Responsibilities
Define and evolve the platform design-system roadmap in alignment with product goals and enterprise guidance.
Champion design-system adoption within the platform, driving consistent use of approved patterns and components.
Provide leadership-level recommendations on platform design-system priorities and technical gaps.
Partner with stakeholders to ensure platform solutions meet user and business needs.
Facilitate conversations to align expectations and improve design-to-development handoff.
Qualifications
5 years of experience in design systems, product design, or related digital product discipline.
Proven track record of contributing to design-system adoption for a product area or platform.
Working knowledge of front-end technologies and ability to collaborate with engineers.
Understanding of CI/CD concepts relevant to design-system delivery.
Strong understanding of design principles, UI/UX best practices, and accessibility standards.
