Shift:          1st Shift | 4 Days per Week

Job Summary

The Design Technician III will support product development, engineering design, mechanical testing, troubleshooting, and manufacturing process improvement in a medical device manufacturing environment.

The role involves creating and modifying designs, building custom fixtures, conducting inspections and testing, documenting results, and coordinating technical design changes with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, and materials teams.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

·         Design components or portions of systems and modify existing designs.

·         Support product improvements, manufacturing operations, and field service activities.

·         Use CAD and engineering design tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Pro/ENGINEER, Siemens NX, CAD/CAM, or similar software.

·         Gather technical information, conduct studies and calculations, and prepare design layouts and sketches.

·         Coordinate design requirements with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, materials, and planning teams.

·         Consider manufacturability, material availability, and applicable specifications.

·         Perform mechanical or electronic component testing and troubleshooting.

·         Interpret schematics, diagrams, engineering drawings, and written technical instructions.

·         Maintain, organize, and document technical data.

·         Perform calculations using established formulas and procedures.

·         Manage small projects, conduct tests, interpret data, and prepare reports.

·         Recommend and implement improvements to optimize work processes.

·         Provide guidance, coaching, and training to lower-level employees.

·         Independently develop potential solutions to technical problems for supervisor review.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications

·         Strong CAD modeling and engineering drawing interpretation skills.

·         Knowledge of GD&T and BOMs.

·         Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, custom fixtures, testing, and troubleshooting.

·         Understanding of design changes and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).

·         Experience working with vendors on component dimensions and ordering.

·         Experience qualifying equipment on a medical device manufacturing assembly line.

·         Ability to collect, analyze, and document technical data.

·         Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

 

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or a related engineering/technical discipline:

·         Mechanical Engineering

·         Biomedical Engineering

·         Electrical Engineering

·         Manufacturing Engineering

·         Packaging Engineering

·         Materials Engineering

 

Required Experience

·         4+ years of relevant experience.

·         Experience in medical device manufacturing.

·         Experience working in a cleanroom environment within a medical device company.

·         Experience building custom fixtures and performing mechanical assembly.

·         Experience interpreting engineering drawings, BOMs, and GD&T.

·         Experience working with vendors on component dimensions and ordering.

·         Experience qualifying equipment on a medical device manufacturing assembly line.

1. CAD & Engineering Drawings

·         Strong CAD modeling capabilities.

·         Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

·         Ability to interpret engineering drawings and BOMs (Bills of Materials).

 

2. Mechanical Testing & Troubleshooting

·         Hands-on experience building custom fixtures.

·         Mechanical assembly and component experience.

·         Ability to perform inspections, testing, and mechanical troubleshooting.

·         Experience collecting and documenting test results.

·         Understanding and implementation of technical design changes.

·         Ability to communicate design changes and assess their impact.

·         Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
