The Desk Adjuster is responsible for the examination, evaluation, and resolution of property
and casualty insurance claims. This role involves working with policyholders, claimants, agents,
and other insurance professionals to gather information and make fair and timely settlements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for claims handling procedures
• Develops expert list/websites for various product categories.
• Documents the file accordingly.
• Provides quality customer service.
• Provides insured with policy information to include coverage, limitations, replacement
or ACV options.
• Works with and may coordinate a number of vendor services such as contractors,
emergency repair, cleaning services and various replacement services.
• May assist on files handled by Claims Reps with in-person inspection/policyholder
contact when needed.
• Attends product seminars/shows to build personal property expertise.
• May be called upon for catastrophe duty.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
• Manage your work queue to meet the client’s time expectations.
• Review and stay up to date with the client estimating guidelines.
• Review photographs to verify storm damage from the 3rd party vendors.
• Review the aerial report to verify the correct location and shape of the
dwelling/building.
• Verify photographs of the risk to ensure they match the scope notes.
• Create an estimate using scope notes from 3rd party vendor and/or aerial report that
meets the client’s estimating guidelines.
• Notify management of any time changes in your schedule in advance.
• Review all documentation, estimates, and photographs for accuracy prior to
uploading/marking the claim ready for review.
• Processing payments, sending coverage letters and closing calls to insure.

• Strong written and oral communications skills required.
• Good interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills required
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of coverages provided within various homeowner policies.
• The capabilities, skills and knowledge required is normally acquired through a
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 3-5 years of directly related
experience.
• Ability to obtain proper licensing as required Creating estimates in Symbility.
• 3+ years estimating storm damage.
• Have a working computer.
• Have access to reliable internet.
• Maintain licenses in the states as required by state regulations.
• Demonstrate self-motivation with the ability to plan, organize, and complete tasks
independently without close supervision
