An acclaimed, high-volume, experiential hospitality group is seeking an elite General Manager to lead one of Detroit’s premier culinary destinations. Our client is dedicated to creating an environment that promotes creativity, passion, and a genuine sense of community.

This role is for a dynamic leader to spearhead current high-volume projects in Detroit, Michigan, with the unique possibility for relocation to future high-profile projects nationally as our group expands.

This is a full-time position, that will work out of a hospitality group restaurant and report to Executive Leadership while collaborating with the restaurant General Manager.


JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Lead by example and establish yourself as a visible, respected leader for both guests and team members. 

Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and hospitality excellence. 

Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing managers and hourly team members. 

Fill key leadership and hourly positions with candidates who demonstrate quality, integrity, and alignment with our culture.


Guest Experience 

Own the overall guest experience and ensure exceptional hospitality is consistently delivered. 

Resolve guest concerns professionally while identifying opportunities to improve service standards. 

Drive guest retention, increase guest satisfaction, and build lasting relationships within the community.


Staffing & Training 

Build, schedule, and maintain a highly engaged, well-trained hospitality team. 

Lead orientation, onboarding, and ongoing training initiatives. 

Coach team members through regular observation, feedback, and development. 

Spearhead management development and succession planning.


Financial Performance 

Own restaurant budgets and financial performance. 

Manage controllable costs, including labor, cost of goods sold, and operating expenses. 

Monitor cash handling, bar drawers, petty cash, tip distributions, comps, voids, and financial reporting. 

Deliver financial goals while maintaining the guest experience.


Operations

Ensure execution of opening and closing procedures, daily operational standards, and company systems. 

Oversee facility appearance, preventative maintenance, repairs, cleanliness, and overall presentation. 

Maintain operational excellence through consistent inspections and follow-up.


Human Resources & Administration

Partner with Human Resources to promote employee engagement and retention. 

Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, payroll practices, and HR procedures. 

Manage employee performance reviews, coaching, corrective action, grievances, and terminations.

Oversee scheduling, timekeeping, payroll accuracy, labor reporting, and administrative systems including POS, HRIS, gratuity platforms, and other operational software.


Inventory & Purchasing

Oversee purchasing, receiving, inventory counts, and inventory control processes. 

Maintain accurate inventory systems and ensure proper product management.


Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and company policies. 

Maintain emergency procedures, incident reporting, guest safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.


Business Growth

Drive same-store sales growth through operational excellence and hospitality. 

Increase check averages, guest counts, product mix, and guest loyalty.

Identify opportunities to improve profitability while protecting the guest experience.


QUALIFICATIONS: 

3+ years of progressive high-volume restaurant management experience. 

Previous General Manager experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant. 

Experience leading successful restaurant openings is strongly preferred. 

Demonstrated ability to recruit, coach, develop, and retain high-performing teams.

Strong financial acumen with experience managing labor, food cost, operating expenses, and restaurant budgets. 

Proven ability to interpret financial reports and translate them into operational action plans. 

Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills. 

Highly organized with the ability to create systems and maintain structure in fast-paced, evolving environments.

Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability. 

Hands-on leader who is willing to step into any role necessary to support the team. 

Passionate about hospitality and committed to continuous learning and professional development. 

Court of Master Sommeliers Level 1 certification is a plus

Must be authorized to work in the United States
