    Job Description

We don’t just create housing, we create homeownership opportunities for low and moderate income residents. Join our movement!

ABOUT THE SAN FRANCISCO COMMUNITY LAND TRUST

The San Francisco Community Land Trust (SFCLT) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create permanently affordable housing for low-to-moderate-income people through community ownership of the land. Guided by the principles of anti-displacement and racial justice, SFCLT stabilizes neighborhoods and creates greater access to housing and homeownership opportunities with a focus on BIPOC communities previously excluded from access to wealth, and in particular, access to homeownership opportunities.

SFCLT currently owns and operates 16 permanently affordable properties throughout San Francisco, including Chinatown, the Mission, the Tenderloin, the Richmond, South of Market, and Russian Hill.

    ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE ROLE

SFCLT is seeking a Development Associate to support the organization's fundraising, communications, membership, and community engagement efforts. This highly collaborative role serves as the operational backbone of the Development team, ensuring donor stewardship, gift processing, events, volunteer engagement, and communications run smoothly and effectively.

Working closely with the Policy & Development Director, the Development Associate helps strengthen relationships with donors, members, volunteers, funders, and community partners while maintaining the systems and processes that support SFCLT's fundraising success and long-term sustainability.

HOW YOU WILL SUPPORT THE WORK OF SFCLT

Development Operations & Donor Stewardship: Maintain the donor database (Bloomerang), process gifts and acknowledgments, reconcile donations, prepare reports, and ensure donor records are accurate and up to date.

Fundraising Events & Campaigns: Coordinate logistics for fundraising events, donor receptions, community gatherings, and campaigns, including invitations, vendor coordination, event materials, and attendee management.

Membership & Volunteer Engagement: Manage membership renewals and communications, respond to member inquiries, coordinate volunteer recruitment and onboarding, and maintain volunteer records and recognition activities.

Project Management: Support fundraising plans, campaign timelines, grant tracking, and project management systems to ensure deadlines are met and development initiatives stay on track.

Communications & Content: Help manage newsletters, website updates, social media, presentations, donor materials, and other communications that strengthen SFCLT's public presence and fundraising efforts.

Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with finance, communications, programs, and leadership to gather information, coordinate projects, and support organization-wide fundraising initiatives.

    ABOUT YOU

Organized & Detail-Oriented: You thrive on keeping projects, data, and deadlines organized while ensuring accuracy across multiple priorities.

Relationship Builder: You enjoy connecting with donors, volunteers, members, and community partners, creating positive experiences through thoughtful communication and responsive follow-through.

Excellent Communicator: Whether writing donor acknowledgments, coordinating events, or creating newsletters, you communicate clearly and professionally.

Event & Project Manager: You can juggle multiple projects simultaneously, proactively manage deadlines, and anticipate what needs to happen next. You also enjoy coordinating events, campaigns, or community engagement activities.

Tech-Savvy & Systems-Oriented: You're comfortable learning and using tools such as Bloomerang, Canva, Google Workspace, Zoom, project management platforms, and other digital systems to improve efficiency.

Mission-Driven: You believe in housing justice and are excited to support an organization advancing permanently affordable housing, racial equity, and community ownership.

    • Experience working with communities impacted by gentrification, displacement, or housing inequity is strongly preferred.

    • This is a hybrid role requiring in-office collaboration in San Francisco, with additional in-person attendance for events and organizational needs.
