Job Title: Development Scientist
Location: Richmond, VA
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Experience Level: 5+ years
Pay rate: $45/hr W2

Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Development Scientist with strong experience in Oral Solid Dose (OSD) formulation and drug product development. The scientist will develop and optimize formulations, perform laboratory experiments, support scale-up, and help transfer processes to manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize OSD formulations.
• Work with API, excipients, and material characterization.
• Develop direct compression, wet/dry granulation, and continuous manufacturing processes.
• Design and analyze Design of Experiments (DoE).
• Perform root cause analysis for formulation and process issues.
• Evaluate materials using PSD, microscopy, rheology, moisture sorption, and compressibility.
• Support scale-up and technology transfer to manufacturing.
• Prepare technical reports, protocols, and CMC regulatory documentation.
• Work with Analytical, Quality, and Regulatory teams.
• Analyze data and communicate technical recommendations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences, or related field.

• 5+ years of relevant pharmaceutical development experience.
• Strong experience in OSD formulation/product development.
• Knowledge of DoE, QbD, material characterization, and scale-up.
• Strong scientific, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred

• Master's or PhD in a relevant field.
• Pharmaceutical regulatory/CMC experience.
• Project management experience.
• Experience with drug development and manufacturing.
