Your Job

As a Development Test Engineer, you will own the execution and day-to-day management of Design Verification Plans (DVPs) for new product development programs. You will translate approved verification requirements into executable test plans, coordinate the people, samples, equipment, methods, and laboratory capacity needed to complete testing, and maintain clear visibility to schedule, risk, and results.

This role is focused on disciplined execution and test logistics. You will work across Development Engineering, Product Design Engineering, program teams, sample build teams, and internal or external laboratories to ensure correctly prepared samples arrive when needed, testing is performed accurately and on time, roadblocks are removed quickly, and complete test reports are issued. When failures occur, you will engage the appropriate technical team, preserve objective evidence, and support structured failure analysis through closure.

Our Team

The Development Test Engineer is part of the Product Development Engineering organization and works closely with Development Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Technical Project Management, Reliability and Validation laboratories, Quality, Operations, sample coordination teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders. The team converts design verification intent into reliable execution and provides timely, traceable evidence to support engineering decisions and product readiness.

What You Will Do

  • Create, maintain, and manage DVPs that define test requirements, methods, sample quantities, acceptance criteria, responsibilities, timing, and required evidence.
  • Convert program milestones and engineering requirements into an integrated test execution schedule with clear priorities, dependencies, and completion dates.
  • Coordinate with required internal and external laboratories to confirm capability, capacity, equipment, fixtures, methods, lead times, and reporting expectations before testing begins.
  • Plan and track sample demand, build timing, conditioning, identification, configuration, packaging, documentation, and delivery so laboratories receive the correct samples in test-ready condition.
  • Actively identify and remove roadblocks related to manpower, material, equipment, laboratory capacity, fixtures, methods, information, and decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate status for planned, ready, in-process, completed, blocked, failed, and reported tests; communicate risks early and drive recovery actions to closure.
  • Conduct test-readiness reviews to verify samples, methods, fixtures, equipment, acceptance criteria, data capture, and ownership are complete before execution.
  • Ensure tests are executed to the approved plan and method, with deviations documented, reviewed, and approved by the appropriate technical owner.
  • Partner with laboratories to ensure test data and reports are accurate, complete, traceable, and issued on time, including sample identification, conditions, results, observations, photographs, and disposition.
  • Review completed reports against the DVP and acceptance criteria; resolve missing, inconsistent, or unclear information before results are accepted.
  • When failures or unexpected results occur, promptly engage the Development Engineering and Product Design Engineering team, preserve samples and evidence, and support structured failure analysis and retest planning.
  • Facilitate routine test execution reviews, escalate unresolved constraints, and provide concise schedule, risk, and completion updates to program stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized DVP records, test requests, laboratory communications, raw data, reports, deviations, failure-analysis evidence, and approvals in the designated systems.
  • Capture lessons learned and improve standard test plans, sample logistics, laboratory interfaces, templates, and execution workflows for future programs.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor''s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in product development testing, validation, reliability, laboratory operations, engineering project execution, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience creating, coordinating, or executing verification or validation test plans with defined requirements, methods, samples, acceptance criteria, schedules, and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent tests, priorities, dependencies, and stakeholders while maintaining accurate status and follow-through.
  • Experience coordinating samples, fixtures, equipment, laboratory capacity, and technical documentation for test execution.
  • Ability to identify execution constraints, develop recovery actions, escalate effectively, and drive action owners to timely closure.
  • Ability to review technical data and reports for completeness, traceability, accuracy, and alignment to acceptance criteria.
  • Experience supporting failure investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action, or structured problem-solving activities.
  • Ability to work across functions, locations, and laboratories and to travel as needed to support testing, sample readiness, and issue resolution.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&R), requirements traceability, reliability testing, or qualification testing for electromechanical products.
  • Experience with connectors, interconnects, printed circuit board assemblies, high-speed or power products, or other precision electromechanical systems.
  • Experience working with internal and external laboratories, including test requests, quotations, scheduling, sample control, data review, and final report acceptance.
  • Working knowledge of environmental, mechanical, electrical, dimensional, and material test methods and the equipment or fixtures used to execute them.
  • Experience with sample planning, prototype builds, configuration control, chain of custody, conditioning, packaging, and international shipment logistics.
  • Experience applying structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, DMAIC, PDCA, fault tree analysis, fishbone analysis, or 5 Why.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, measurement system analysis, DOE, capability analysis, confidence and sample-size concepts, or data visualization.
  • Experience with DVP, PLM, laboratory information, project tracking, database, Power BI, SharePoint, or other digital workflow and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to build repeatable execution processes, standard work, dashboards, templates, and controls that improve testing speed, accuracy, and predictability.
  • Proven ability to operate with limited direction, maintain attention to detail, and create accountability across a cross-functional team.

For this role, we anticipate paying $90,000-$130,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
