BASIC FUNCTION

Performs whole body, forearm, central hip, and spine bone density dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) tests. Responsible for taking x-rays for which you are licensed and related duties.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Performs DEXA tests in accordance with appropriate protocols, safety standards, and policy.

  2. Performs post-scan quality assurance reviews and releases films for interpretation.

  3. Performs necessary routine equipment maintenance in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.

  4. Calibrates scanner daily, quality control, archives scans completed on disc, and maintains daily logs. Maintains complete logs and records of maintenance and quality control.

  5. Answers patient questions and concerns with care and compassion. Demonstrates excellent customer service.

  6. Completes all necessary paperwork.

  7. Maintains ability to scan full body, as well as hip and spine.

  8. Accurately analyzes all scans.

  9. Demonstrates familiarity in use of equipment, materials, and supplies.

  10. Assumes responsibility for checking x-ray rooms for supplies, stocks x-ray rooms, and works with the individual responsible for purchasing in the ordering of supplies.

  11. Performs DEXA Technologist duties, as necessary. Performs DEXA's following established procedures for patient care and safety.

  12. Adheres to the organization's radiation safety program.

  13. Assists in other departments, as needed or requested.

  14. Maintains effective communication with supervisor and management on issues affecting the department.

  15. Maintains a basic working knowledge of computer systems.

  16. Predictable attendance and promptness in reporting to work and in returning from breaks and meal periods is expected and required.

  17. Other duties as may be assigned.

Hours: 8am - 5pm

Wage Range: $25 - $27 per hour
