Diesel Mechanic

Carolina Industrial Staffing is looking for an experienced Diesel Truck & Trailer Mechanic to join our Columbia, South Carolina maintenance team. This is a first shift position.

Work with a well-established, family-owned transportation company operating a private fleet of tractors and tanker trailers. We are looking for a dependable mechanic who takes pride in keeping equipment safe, reliable, and on the road.
 

Responsibilities

· Diagnose and repair diesel tractors and trailers

· Perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections

· Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, air brake, suspension, and related systems

· Repair and maintain brakes, wheel ends, lighting, air systems, and other trailer components

· Identify problems before they result in breakdowns

· Complete repairs accurately and efficiently

· Maintain a clean and safe work environment

· Document maintenance and repairs as required

· Help keep our fleet safe, dependable, and ready for operation

Qualifications

· Previous diesel truck, heavy-duty equipment, or fleet maintenance experience preferred

· Experience working on Class 8 tractors and trailers strongly preferred

· Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills

· Knowledge of air brake and electrical systems

· Must have your own basic hand tools

· Welding/fabrication experience is a plus

· CDL is a plus, but not required

· Must be dependable and able to work independently

· Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Shift: 

7am - 5pm, Monday - Friday 

Pay: 

$20-30/hour depending on previous experience; paid weekly via direct deposit or company issued paycard
