What You'll Be Responsible For

A Fleet Ready Before The First Snow

From late April through October, you pace the prep window so every machine in the fleet is fully serviced and ready to run for the season by the October 31 deadline. Preventive maintenance follows a schedule you set and hold yourself to, logged in the maintenance tracking system so nothing slips.

Each service is a real inspection. Developing problems get caught while there is still time to fix them, which is the point of running the schedule in the first place.

Repairs Done To The Root Cause

When a truck or a piece of heavy equipment comes in broken, you diagnose it to the actual fault and finish the repair so it holds. You pull scan data, you work the hydraulics, you follow the problem to where it lives, and the machine runs when it leaves.

In season the pressure climbs. Seventy-hour weeks and holidays come with the territory when a storm is on, and a machine that goes down gets back to the crews the same push.

Overhauls And Builds That Carry Your Name

You take worn equipment through full refurbishment and bring it back ready for service. You build hooklift trucks in-house from the ground up, the kind of work a person points at years later.

When a refurb or a build leaves the shop, it performs the way it should and holds up through a full season of hard use.

Parts Made In-House

When a part is not on the shelf, or is not worth waiting on, you make it. You cut, weld, and paint using the shop's fabrication equipment, and the finish holds up in the field. The shop keeps moving under its own power.

A Final Check Before The Field

Every machine gets inspected before it is released to the crews, and it leaves safe and working. You are the last set of eyes between the bench and a storm, and you own that call.

You keep the shop in order too. Shared spaces, the parts rooms, and your own cart, bench, and toolbox stay organized so the next job starts fast and the next mechanic finds what they need.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of hands-on experience as an all-around heavy equipment and diesel mechanic, ideally in construction, snow operations, or a similarly demanding industrial setting.
• Strong diesel engine diagnostic and repair skills, including use of electronic scan tools and interpretation of diagnostic data.
• Hydraulic system troubleshooting and repair experience across trucks and heavy equipment.
• Proven ability to diagnose to root cause rather than swap parts until something changes.
• Experience with full equipment refurbishments and in-house truck builds from the ground up, including hooklift systems.
• Proficiency with MIG and stick welding for structural and fabrication work that holds under field conditions.
• Working experience with in-house parts fabrication using shop cutting, forming, and machining equipment.
• Familiarity with a maintenance tracking system, and a commitment to logging work the same day it is done.
• A professional-grade personal tool set appropriate for heavy equipment work.
• Willing and able to work heavy overtime during snow season, including seventy-hour weeks and holidays when storms hit.
• Able to lift 50 lbs regularly, work in awkward positions under and inside machines, and work in shop conditions year-round.
• Discipline around lockout, PPE, safe shop practices, and keeping shared spaces and a personal work area in order.

Compensation and Benefits

$35.00-$40.00 depending on experience.

Unlimited overtime available.
