This instructor must ensure that a positive, upbeat, diversified, interesting, and active learning environment occurs in both classrooms and labs, giving the students relevant and worthwhile experiences daily. The responsibilities include planning, organizing, and implementing an effective instructional training program in a professional learning environment that guides, encourages, and enables students to develop into industry professionals. Dixie Tech is a public technical college located on a state-of-the-art campus in St. George, Utah. The College has 30 Council on Occupational Education-accredited programs that offer certifications in high-demand, high-pay professions.This is a full-time teaching position with a salary between $75,000 and $80,000 per year.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Instruction & CurriculumDevelop, update, and deliver syllabi, curriculum, lesson plans, and hands-on lab experiences aligned with industry standards and current technologyEstablish clear course objectives and competencies; ensure syllabi align with module sign-offs in NorthstarMaintain a structured, safe, professional classroom/lab environment prepared daily for instructionAssign and grade coursework in a timely manner; structure courses in CanvasDesign, coordinate, and assess work-based learning experiences; bring in industry professionals for specialized instructionStay current on industry trends and adjust curriculum accordinglyStudent Success & ComplianceObserve, evaluate, and document student performance and behavior; provide feedback and involve Student Services as neededSupport student retention, completion, licensure, and job placement; keep records current and accurate in NorthstarMeet or exceed performance metrics set by COE and the VP of InstructionMaintain confidentiality and FERPA compliance; ensure equal treatment of all students and staff, reporting violations to HR or Student ServicesPartner with admissions and recruiters to fill cohorts; help develop admissions standards that support student successAccreditation & Program ComplianceEnsure the program meets COE accreditation standards, including Employee Verification forms and industry partner documentationSupport biannual Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) meetings, maintain OAC communication, and implement committee decisionsDocument and submit Standard 2 evidence per COE guidelines and deadlinesUphold all College, local, state, and federal safety and policy requirementsProgram Leadership & DevelopmentRecruit, train, and support adjunct instructors; collaborate actively with the program director and instructional teamBuild and maintain industry partnerships to support student employment outcomesAssist the program director with budget oversight and maintain inventory of instructional supplies and equipmentPursue ongoing professional development and continuously improve teaching skills and technical knowledgePerform other duties as assignedQualifications:Required Qualifications5+ years' experience in industryHigh School diploma or equivalentAssociate degree or Industry-Recognized CertificatesStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google Suite applicationsStrong communication and presentation skillsOccasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less; requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and proceduresPreferred QualificationsExperience in the heavy equipment industryBachelor's degreeTeaching/training experienceASE CertificationContacts with local industryWhile we thank all applicants for applying, only those being actively considered for employment will be contacted during the selection process.
