Dimensional Inspection Technician — Precision CNC Components
Location: Onsite — Hillsboro, OR
A day in the life
When the shop lights come on, you’re among the first to handle precision metal parts fresh off CNC equipment. You’ll move between incoming materials, in-process checks, first article verifications (first part buyoff), and final inspections before shipment—each step ensuring customers receive exactly what they ordered.
Armed with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and other metrology tools, you’ll verify dimensions, confirm workmanship, and compare every detail to customer blueprints and specifications. You’ll document what you find, raise flags for defects and non-conformances, and help keep production flowing smoothly.
What you’ll do
- Inspect incoming, in-process, first article, finished, and outgoing metal parts to confirm compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, and production requirements.
- Perform incoming inspections on supplier materials and final inspections on completed products prior to shipment.
- Review inspection records, work orders, and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and sign-off.
- Identify, record, and communicate defects, discrepancies, and non-conforming materials.
- Use precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and related tools) to verify dimensions and quality.
- Read and interpret customer blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements; familiarity with GD&T is helpful.
- Visually examine parts for damage, workmanship issues, and dimensional inconsistencies while handling precision components with care.
- Balance multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and speed in a fast-paced production setting.
- Keep the inspection area clean, organized, and safe.
- Support the team with other related tasks as assigned.
