Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide in-home care and assistance to an individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in Blandon, PA.
This is a weekend-only position supporting a client who requires hands-on assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), transfers, and mobility.
The client receives 2:1 care, meaning two caregivers are assigned to provide support. We are looking for someone patient, dependable, and comfortable assisting with personal care and physical mobility needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene.
- Provide hands-on assistance with transfers, repositioning, and mobility using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Support the client's daily routines and encourage independence whenever possible.
- Ensure the client's safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the shift.
- Work collaboratively with the second assigned caregiver to provide consistent, quality care.
- Observe and report changes in the client's condition, behavior, or needs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive home environment.
- Complete required care documentation.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a DSP, caregiver, home health aide, CNA, or in a similar direct care role preferred.
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
- Comfortable providing hands-on personal care and mobility assistance.
- Familiarity with safe transfer techniques and mobility equipment preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Patient, compassionate, dependable, and attentive to client needs.
- Reliable transportation to Blandon, PA.
- Ability to consistently work both Saturday and Sunday, 8 AM 8 PM.
