    Description

At Audible, we believe stories have the power to transform lives. It's why we work with some of the world's leading creators to produce and share audio storytelling with our millions of global listeners. We are dreamers and inventors who come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences to empower and inspire each other. Imagine your future with us.

    ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Director of Audio Video (AV), you will oversee AV infrastructure deployment and support, guide the execution of live events, manage AV projects, and hire and develop talent. In this role, you will manage a team that designs, delivers, optimizes, and supports various AV solutions including conference rooms, event space, and digital signage. The team is based out of Newark, NJ but provides global support. You will work closely with tech teams at Audible and Amazon, facilities stakeholders, finance partners, and leadership across the company to deliver the best possible customer experience.

    ABOUT YOU

You are strategic and influenced by Technology and Culture but balance that with execution of daily tasks to maintain a high bar for customer service. You have experience both in building out AV infrastructure and supporting live events. Being a leader and developing yourself and your team are important to you. Not every problem will have a clear starting point so you should be comfortable dealing with ambiguity to assess and manage risks and have situational awareness to anticipate and resolve potential issues. You always attempt to look for the root cause of an issue and solve problems with a bigger picture in mind. We look for people who take responsibility, set their standards high and see every failure as an opportunity to learn.

As a Director of Audio Video, you will...

    • Lead a team of onsite AV Support Engineers responsible for day-to-day end-user AV support as well as the maintenance and break/fix of conference and meeting rooms hardware
    • Manage inventories, budgets and life cycle management
    • Develop and execute strategic new initiatives to enhance AV services
    • Ensure project plans are on target and executed comprehensively
    • Monitor the live event program and find opportunities to execute more efficiently and delight our customers
    • Be an escalation point for the team and provide technical leadership to appropriate personnel
    • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the business
    • Manage and optimize relationships with vendors that augment your team's capacity and capabilities
    • Create regular reports to share insights with leadership
    • Be a passionate builder of talent and teams. You will hire, coach, and mentor
    • Own your team's operational excellence, including creation of and monitoring of metrics and alerts, gathering of and analyzing customer feedback, regular scrutinization of processes, and maintaining documentation

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
