    What you’ll do in the role:

    Morgan Stanley Services Group, Inc. is seeking a Director, Business Analysis in New York, New York to participate in all phases of the Agile lifecycle, including working with the Product Owner to understand business requirements, refining and grooming JIRA user stories, and coordinating design discussions and end to end testing. Analyze functional and technical requirements, document with use cases, wireframes, data flow diagrams, sample reports, or other similar artifacts. Collaborate with key stakeholders from business, technology, UX, risk, legal and compliance to elicit requirements. Act as the interface and advocate between the business users and the development teams. Proactively identify and address issues to full resolution and providing status updates on progress. Conduct review sessions with the various stakeholders on the artifacts. Highlight risks and issues during the software development lifecycle. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.

    What you’ll bring to the role:

    -Requires a Master’s in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field of study

    -Requires three (3) years of experience in the position offered or three (3) years as an Associate, Manager, Analyst, or a related role

    -Requires three (3) years of experience with the following skills:

    • Agile/Scrum delivery, including sprint planning, backlog refinement/grooming, sprint reviews, and retrospectives;
    • Translating business needs into functional and technical requirements, including documenting use cases, user journeys/flows, and non-functional requirements;
    • Producing analysis and design artifacts, including process flows, data flow diagrams, and interface and API specifications;
    • Using Visio, Excalidraw, or Gliffy;
    • Coordinating end-to-end testing activities, including writing test scenarios/cases, supporting SIT/UAT, triaging defects, and validating fixes through to closure;
    • Running reviews and walkthroughs, and maintaining clear status reporting;
    • Using Jira to create and refine user stories, define acceptance criteria, and manage epics and features;
    • Tracking defects, risks, and dependencies; and
    • Using Atlassian Confluence to organize and maintain project documentation, including technical scripts, datasets, and support artifacts.

    -Requires two (2) years of experience with the following skills:

    • Querying and validating data to support requirements and testing using SQL, including reconciling outputs and troubleshooting data issues across environments;
    • Creating stakeholder-ready materials, including requirements decks, workflow walkthroughs, and release notes, using Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; and
    • Using reporting and data visualization tools, including Microsoft Power BI and Tableau, to build and maintain dashboards and reports, define KPIs and metrics, perform ad hoc analysis, and communicate insights to stakeholders.

    -Requires any amount of experience with the following skills:

    • Using AI-assisted tools, including Microsoft Copilot or GitHub Copilot, to accelerate documentation drafting, meeting summarization, creation of test cases and checklists, and code and query scaffolding;
    • Using Microsoft Excel for analysis and delivery execution, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP or INDEX-MATCH, conditional formatting, basic charts, requirements traceability, UAT progress, and defect triage log;
    • Creating executive-ready documentation and presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint;
    • Using Dataiku to support data preparation and analytics;
    • Working with enterprise data lakes (“datalake”) and lakehouse-style architectures; and
    • Snowflake.

    Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $158,000 and $165,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
