    Job Description

    Position Overview

As Director, Energy Supply you will be responsible for implementing Invenergy’s energy supply strategy across North America by evaluating and assembling the generation resources that supply large loads at Invenergy’s data center sites, structuring supply arrangements in support of energy supply agreements (ESAs), and delivering a path to power for each site from bridge power through grid-connected service. Reporting to the SVP, Commercial & Energy Supply, you will draw on Invenergy’s operating and new-build generation portfolio and work closely with teams across Invenergy’s digital infrastructure and power businesses. This role would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced energy professional looking to apply their utility, IPP or data center energy experience to large load supply and to build and lead the Energy Supply function within a new and rapidly expanding digital infrastructure business.

Invenergy follows a hybrid schedule, working in office Monday through Thursday and remotely on Fridays.

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluate and assemble the mix of resources to supply large loads, drawing on Invenergy’s operating assets and new-build solar, wind, storage and natural gas-fired generation
    • Develop supply solutions using co-located or proximate generation, including islanded, behind-the-meter and grid-connected configurations, with grid-connected service as the end state for each site
    • Lead bridge power strategy and solutions to serve customer load ahead of grid-connected supply
    • Evaluate market generation on an as-needed basis to supplement Invenergy’s resources in coordination with the Energy Trading group.
    • Lead early-stage ESA and PPA discussions with utilities from a structuring perspective in coordination with the power Origination team, and support the Contracts team through negotiation and execution
    • Coordinate internal analytics functions and outside consultants to determine the optimal generation and load capacity at each site
    • Maintain a phased path-to-power plan for each site and track contracted MW and time to power against plan
    • Analyze utility tariffs and large load rate structures, including minimum demand and collateral requirements, and engage internal teams for cost and dispatch modeling of supply options
    • Partner with the Business Development team to support tenant conversations, including customer-specific power requirements
    • Provide energy diligence to the Development team during site evaluation
    • Support the Interconnection team on load interconnection agreements from a business and commercial perspective
    • Provide direction and support to the Regulatory Affairs team on large load tariff and rate proceedings
    • Coordinate closely with internal Business Development, Interconnection, Regulatory Affairs, Contracts, Development, Program Management, Energy Trading, power Origination and Strategy teams to deliver supply solutions for each site
    • Prepare and deliver presentations, supply plans and business updates to internal stakeholders
    • Build and lead an Energy Supply team as the business grows

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • At least 10 years of experience in energy supply, origination or business development at a data center developer, independent power producer or utility
    • Knowledge of the electric utility industry, electric energy markets and large load utility service, including the ability to interpret tariffs and rate structures
    • Working knowledge of solar, wind, storage and natural gas-fired generation, and of co-located, behind-the-meter and grid-connected supply configurations
    • Experience structuring ESAs, PPAs or other power supply arrangements
    • Proven relationship management and communication skills
    • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
    • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supplying large loads, such as data centers or large industrial facilities
