Director - Fund Accounting (Hedge Fund)

Location: New York, NY

Compensation: $200,000 - $250,000 base + bonus

Summary

We are partnering with a leading hedge fund to hire a Director of Fund Accounting to oversee core accounting operations across multiple strategies. This leadership role will manage a team and partner directly with senior leadership across finance, operations, and investment teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the fund accounting function across multiple hedge fund vehicles and strategies
• Oversee NAV production, investor allocations, and financial reporting processes
• Manage relationships with fund administrators, auditors, and external service providers
• Review and approve monthly/quarterly financials, including P&L, balance sheet, and investor reporting
• Ensure accurate accounting treatment across complex instruments (derivatives, structured products, credit)
• Partner with tax, legal, and operations teams on fund launches, restructurings, and new products
• Drive process improvements, internal controls, and scalability across the accounting platform
• Hire, mentor, and develop junior and mid-level team members

Qualifications

• 10+ years of fund accounting experience within hedge funds or alternative asset managers
• Proven experience managing teams and overseeing third-party administrators
• Deep understanding of hedge fund structures and complex investment strategies
• Strong experience with financial reporting, audits, and internal controls
• CPA strongly preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and investment teams
• Hands-on mindset with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
