Tintri is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead all product engineering efforts across TxOS (VMstore), TGC (Tintri Global Center), and Cloud Engine. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for engineering execution, organizational health, process standardization, and delivery predictability. You'll build and lead high-performing teams, establish a modern SDLC, and serve as the primary engineering partner to Product Management and Executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Own end-to-end engineering delivery for all Tintri product lines including TxOS, TGC, and TCE
Lead, grow, and mentor engineering managers and senior individual contributors
Drive adoption of a modern SDLC including Atlassian toolchain (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) and CI/CD
Establish and track engineering KPIs: DORA metrics, sprint velocity, defect density, and cycle time
Partner with Product Management on roadmap planning, trade-off decisions, and resource allocation
Own technical debt prioritization and architectural modernization roadmap
Ensure engineering compliance with SSDF and security policies
Manage engineering budget, headcount planning, and vendor relationships
Represent Engineering in executive reviews, customer escalations, and investor discussions
Own the 30-60-90 day toolchain and process modernization program
Required Qualifications
8+ years of software engineering experience, 4+ in engineering leadership
Proven track record delivering enterprise infrastructure or storage software
Experience managing distributed teams across multiple product lines simultaneously
Deep familiarity with Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, DevOps practices
Hands-on experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
Strong understanding of systems software: Linux, NFS/SMB storage, VMware virtualization
Experience migrating teams from legacy toolchains to modern platforms
Excellent communication skills with both engineers and executives
Experience with SSDF, SOC2, or similar security compliance frameworks preferred
Background in hardware/software co-design environments a strong plus
