About You and the Role The Director of Engineering is responsible for overseeing and managing all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes within the organization. This role involves managing a team of engineers, ensuring that projects meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards, and support Aphantic's strategic objectives. We are looking for a Director of Engineering to join our team at Aphantic. This is a 100% onsite, full-time position following a 9/80 schedule. Responsibilities Include:Lead the engineering team and oversee all technical aspects of product developmentPlan, coordinate, and supervise all engineering projects within the organizationMentor team members, providing career development planning and opportunitiesDesign, build, and maintain scalable systemsManage budgets, resource allocation, and timelines for engineering projectsMaintain awareness of new technologies and competitive productsPresent reports on the department's progress and projects to senior managementTransition programs from R&D to manufacturing, including managing contract manufacturers, technical data packages, design for manufacturing, and first-article and acceptance testing Required QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.10+ years of relevant professional experience5+ years of experience managing a teamStrong technical expertise in both hardware and software domains, with a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and practicesExperience leading integration system developmentExperience managing full-cycle product releasesProven ability to lead and manage a teamU.S. citizenship required; must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. Preferred QualificationsActive DOD security clearanceDefense program basics: design reviews, configuration management, MIL-STD and test compliance, quality systems knowledge CompensationBase salary: $160,000-$205,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
