Salary: $130,000 per year

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a Director of Facilities to provide Agency-wide strategic and operational leadership for Catholic Charities' facilities portfolio, ensuring that buildings (including residential, service programs, and administrative), property operations, leases, maintenance systems, inspections, capital planning, vendor partnerships, and facilities-related purchasing support safe, accessible, compliant, cost-effective, and mission-ready services across the organization. As the senior facilities leader for an agency with an annual operating budget, this role is accountable for capital budget planning, long-term facility sustainability, operational continuity, regulatory readiness, and responsible stewardship of resources in support of the agency's programs, staff, clients, and residents.

The work schedule is Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serves as the Agency's senior facilities leader, providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and accountability for facilities operations across Catholic Charities' multi-site service environment.
• Leads Agency-wide capital budget planning for facility's needs, including capital requests, project prioritization, division-level planning, long-range facility sustainability, and alignment with organizational priorities within an annual operating budget.
• Establishes facilities needs, standards, and accountability measures that support safe, accessible, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective environments for programs, staff, clients, residents, and visitors.
• Partners with executive leadership, division directors, program leaders, finance, and other internal stakeholders to anticipate facility needs, assess risks, support operational continuity, and ensure facility planning is aligned with mission delivery and organizational strategy.
• Oversees Agency leasing, property management, site inspections, routine facility assessments, and the main administration building to ensure properties meet safety, maintenance, accessibility, operational, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensures each property maintains effective preventive maintenance, inspection, and corrective action plans so buildings, equipment, and systems remain safe, clean, reliable, and operationally efficient.
• Monitors facilities expenditures, purchasing activity, project costs, and cost-saving opportunities to ensure spending remains within approved budgets while maintaining service quality, operational effectiveness, and responsible stewardship of Agency resources.
• Leads Agency-wide facilities purchasing and vendor management for services such as HVAC preventive maintenance, fire protection, security systems, emergency power systems, building maintenance, landscaping, snow removal, housekeeping, waste, and recycling, ensuring vendors are appropriately vetted, monitored, and held accountable for quality, cost, and service standards.
• Prepares and reviews Requests for Proposal, technical reports, facility observations, facility management plans, and capital planning documentation to ensure information is accurate, complete, and aligned with operational needs, budget priorities, and Agency standards.
• Supports the maintenance of the Agency-wide contract management system by ensuring facilities-related contracts, obligations, renewal timelines, and supporting documentation are accurate, current, and compliant.
• Ensures facilities services and operations comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations, inspection requirements, and Agency policies, including timely coordination and resolution of fire, elevator, HUD, and other required inspections or deficiencies.
• Establishes, monitors, and reports on key performance indicators for facilities management, including maintenance response times, project completion, vendor performance, customer satisfaction, budget adherence, and capital project progress, using data to identify improvement opportunities and strengthen accountability.
• Partners with division directors to support the hiring, development, engagement, performance management, and retention of facilities managers and directors, ensuring leadership capability and performance expectations are aligned with organizational goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in facilities management, business administration, engineering, construction management, public administration, or a related field preferred.
• Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, property management, building operations, maintenance, capital planning, or a closely related field.
• Five (5) years of leadership experience supervising or directing facilities staff, managers, vendors, contractors, or multi-site operations.
• Experience managing facilities operations in a multi-site, large-scale, nonprofit, healthcare, human services, residential, or similarly regulated environment preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Comprehensive facilities management expertise, including knowledge of building operations, preventive maintenance, property management, capital planning, and project management in a complex, multi-site environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, life safety, security, and emergency power systems, with the ability to assess issues and support sound operational decisions.
• Ability to read, understand, and apply blueprints, maintenance manuals, technical documents, inspection findings, and regulatory requirements to facilities planning, compliance, and corrective action.
• Leadership capability to guide staff, vendors, contractors, projects, and cross-functional work through clear expectations, accountability, collaboration, and results-oriented follow-through.
• Sound judgment, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to recognize risk, respond effectively to routine and urgent facility issues, and support safe, reliable operations.
• Relationship-building and communication skills necessary to work effectively with internal leaders, staff, vendors, contractors, and external partners in a manner aligned with Catholic Charities' mission, vision, and values.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail needed to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, records, and service expectations across a complex operating environment.
• Analytical and financial acumen, including the ability to use data, performance indicators, budgets, purchasing practices, and cost considerations to support service quality, continuous improvement, and responsible stewardship of Agency resources.
• Proficiency with computer systems and business software used in the role, including basic Windows functions, web-based systems, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Due to the essential functions of the role, this position requires on-site work and is not eligible for remote or hybrid arrangements. The incumbent must be available for emergency response on an on-call basis.
• Required to obtain, maintain, and provide a cell phone contact number, and to be available to respond to work-related calls during specified hours.
• Remaining in a stationary position, which may involve standing or sitting for extended periods, as required to complete tasks or duties associated with the role.
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or transitioning between different work sites, which may involve walking, standing, or traveling to various locations as required by the role.
• Positioning oneself in ways to accomplish tasks in various environments, including navigating tight or confined spaces as needed to complete job responsibilities. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, or other similar structures as required to perform job tasks.
• Adjusting or moving objects up to 75 pounds in all directions, which may include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or repositioning items as necessary to perform job duties.
• Operating machinery and/or power tools to complete tasks, ensuring proper handling, safety protocols, and maintenance procedures. Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals or hazardous conditions related to malfunctioning equipment.
• Hearing and vision abilities, with or without correction, sufficient to drive safely and effectively observe and communicate with others.
• Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver's license issued by the state of residence. There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede drivers' ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.
