The Director of Nursing & Quality is responsible for the strategic leadership, oversight, and continuous improvement of nursing services and quality initiatives within the Health Center. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in compliance with HRSA, DPH, and other regulatory standards.
The Director of Nursing & Quality leads nursing practice, quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI), infection control, and clinical compliance efforts, while partnering with interdisciplinary leadership to optimize patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and population health outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities
Director of Nursing & Quality provides leadership and oversight of all Health Center nursing services, including RNs, LPNs, and medical assistants
Establishes and maintains nursing practice standards consistent with regulatory and evidence-based guidelines
Partners with the CMO and Health Center leadership to align clinical operations with organizational goals
Supports and supervises Nurse Manager and Program Director MAT in daily operations, staffing, and performance management
Lead quality improvement initiatives and performance management initiatives to ensure high standards of nursing care, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
Director of Nursing & Quality oversees clinical quality metrics including UDS, HEDIS, and other reporting requirements
Ensures compliance with HRSA, DPH, and other applicable regulatory standards
Conducts clinical audits and medical record reviews to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance
Assists with the review, updating, and organization of policies and procedures
Monitors patient outcomes, safety indicators, KPIs and implements improvement strategies
Designs, implements, and oversees infection prevention and control programs within the Health Center
Director of Nursing & Quality provides staff education related to infection control and quality improvement initiatives
Collaborates with leadership to optimize clinical workflows, patient access, and care delivery
Establishes and monitors staffing models and productivity standards
Participates in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention strategies for nursing staff
Provides supervision, coaching, and performance management to nursing leadership and staff
Develops and implements training programs, competencies, and professional development plans
Develops, reviews, and updates clinical policies and procedures
Ensures consistent application of organizational policies and procedures
Director of Nursing & Quality supports grant initiatives, program development, and expansion of Health Center services
Serves as a member of leadership and quality committees
Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams including providers, behavioral health, and operations
Acts as a liaison between clinical staff and executive leadership
Treats patients and colleagues with dignity and respect and honors each person’s right to privacy while maintaining strict patient and colleague confidentiality
Adheres to the work schedule and obtains supervisor approval in advance of schedule conflicts, late arrivals, or early departures
Records all hours worked by the last day of the pay period
Follows incident reporting policies and procedures when reporting any unsafe or unusual situations
Timely completes all required trainings, certifications, and licensing requirements
Maintains current awareness of SSTAR communications by regularly reviewing and responding to work emails and seeks clarification when needed

Education & Experience
BSN preferred; Associate-level RN with 5–7 years of clinical management experience will be considered.
8 + years of experience as a registered nurse;
3 years in management, supervisory or director level role in a treatment facility or hospital setting
Proven experience in quality improvement.
FQHC experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other professionals.
Sensitivity to diversity issues and a commitment to cultural competency.
