Director of Radiology

• Manages the department efficiently by planning, organizing, and controlling departmental activities to achieve optimal results.
• Schedules work assignments and coordinates requests for radiologic services to ensure adequate departmental coverage at all times.
• Supervises and maintains radiologic services in compliance with hospital policies and applicable state, local, and federal regulations.
• Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of radiology services through an ongoing quality assurance program.
• Schedules special procedures in coordination with routine radiologic services, performs isotope examinations, and carries out general technical duties as required.
• Performs complex and specialized examinations to ensure satisfactory diagnostic results and assists the Radiologist with difficult procedures.
• Develops and maintains radiation safety programs, including recommendations for monitoring processes, warning devices, and other radiologic safety measures.
• Recommends employment, promotion, disciplinary action, and termination of department personnel and conducts regular performance evaluations.
• Maintains current knowledge of radiology practices and technologies and recommends new services, products, and equipment as appropriate.
• Supervises staff training and development and ensures employees receive appropriate orientation and education.
• Performs minor equipment repairs, ensures equipment remains in good working condition, and recommends equipment modifications, replacement, and departmental construction needs.
• Ensures accurate and timely preparation and maintenance of departmental records.
• Prepares and manages the departmental budget.
• Coordinates departmental purchasing activities and maintains appropriate inventory levels, storage, and utilization of supplies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology required.
• Must meet the requirements of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Preferred Education

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree preferred.

Required Experience

• Minimum of four (4) years of experience performing routine and special radiologic procedures required.

Physical Requirements

• Must possess the physical ability to exert twenty (20) to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally, ten (10) to twenty-five (25) pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible force up to ten (10) pounds constantly to move objects.
• Physical demand requirements exceed those associated with light work.
