Job Description

The Director of Trust Services provides leadership and oversight for the organization's trust administration function, ensuring high-quality client service, effective risk management, regulatory compliance, and consistent execution of trust policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Trust Services team, including direct oversight of Trust Officers and other professionals supporting trust administration.
  • Serve as chair of the organization's Trust Committee and present matters requiring policy or governance consideration to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Lead the Trust Administration Committee and ensure relevant issues, recommendations, and decisions are appropriately communicated and escalated.
  • Review and approve the establishment and closure of trust accounts in accordance with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
  • Serve as the primary leader for regulatory examinations and internal trust audits, coordinating responses and ensuring timely resolution of findings.
  • Oversee the handling and resolution of client concerns and complaints, including reviewing and approving appropriate resolutions.
  • Assess organizational staffing needs and make recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, compensation, performance management, organizational structure, and personnel changes.
  • Monitor relationships with external investment managers and evaluate adherence to established investment strategies and client objectives.
  • Stay current on changes to trust, estate, tax, and fiduciary laws and regulations and ensure applicable requirements are incorporated into trust administration practices.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce effective trust policies, procedures, controls, and operating standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with attorneys, accountants, financial professionals, and other centers of influence to support business development and strengthen the organization's presence in the market.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, training, and support to trust professionals to promote consistent, coordinated, and high-quality client service.
  • Maintain direct responsibility for a portfolio of trust relationships, as needed, while providing leadership and oversight across the broader trust function.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
