BlueWave is hiring a Director, People & Culture for a hospitality and entertainment client based in Orlando, Florida. As Director, People & Culture, you will lead daily human resources operations across talent acquisition, training and development, employee relations, performance management, compliance, engagement, and workplace culture. This hands-on leadership role will strengthen HR programs, develop the People & Culture team, and bring structure and consistency to a service-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily People & Culture operations and supervise, coach, and develop the HR team.
- Provide HR guidance and support to employees, managers, and organizational leadership.
- Evaluate and improve HR programs, policies, processes, and service delivery.
- Oversee recruiting, interviewing, job offers, hiring-manager training, and talent acquisition processes.
- Strengthen recruiting strategy, employer branding, onboarding, and applicant tracking practices.
- Develop and deliver onboarding, customer service, leadership, safety, and compliance training.
- Build training curricula and improve organizational learning and development programs.
- Manage employee relations, disciplinary matters, leave administration, workers compensation, unemployment claims, and performance evaluations.
- Oversee HRIS data, employee changes, reporting, timekeeping, and payroll processes.
- Manage departmental scheduling, budgets, purchasing, and related financial activities.
- Create and oversee employee engagement, recognition, communication, and culture initiatives.
- Partner with operational teams to support a consistent, service-oriented employee experience.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- At least seven years of progressive human resources experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading an HR function or team.
- Broad HR generalist expertise across multiple human resources disciplines.
- Strong recruiting and talent acquisition knowledge, including experience improving recruiting processes and strategy.
- Strong training and development experience, including curriculum development and onboarding.
- Experience with employee relations, leave administration, workers compensation, unemployment claims, and payroll.
- Working knowledge of current FLSA and EEO regulations.
- Experience with HRIS, applicant tracking, and timekeeping systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including creating and working with spreadsheets.
- Ability to understand budgets, financial processes, and moderately complex calculations.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coach a developing HR team and strengthen foundational HR knowledge and practices.
- Hospitality or service-industry experience strongly preferred, particularly in high-volume, guest-facing environments.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or another relevant professional HR certification preferred.
