Hearts & Science
Job Function:
Media
Job Subfunction:
Media Operations
Job Description:
In this role, you will set the operating direction and serve as the accountable leader for Platform Operations across assigned enterprise clients and workstreams. You will combine hands-on AdTech credibility, people and workforce leadership, executive judgment and operating discipline to govern campaign and platform quality, measurement implementation assurance, technical escalation, capability development and continuous improvement. You will also serve as the senior operational bridge between Media Operations, MarTech and adjacent specialist teams through an AdTech lens.
This is not a passive coordination role. You will be expected to investigate issues, challenge incomplete handoffs, identify accountable owners and drive work through documented closure while maintaining clear boundaries with MarTech, Engineering/IT, Analytics, Privacy/Legal and specialist partners.
Key Responsibilities
Set the Platform Operations strategy, operating model, service standards and portfolio priorities for assigned enterprise clients, with clear ownership, governance, escalation paths and measurable outcomes.
Operate as a player-coach: stay close enough to challenge assumptions, troubleshoot complex issues and support critical launches while delegating routine execution appropriately.
Own workforce planning, staffing, workload allocation, performance, succession and capability development across onshore teams; govern offshore/shared-service delivery through clear service expectations, controls, QA standards and escalation paths.
Provide senior operational leadership across Campaign Manager 360 and Google Marketing Platform, with working familiarity across DV360, SA360, YouTube and major social/walled-garden ecosystems.
Oversee platform setup, access governance, account/advertiser structures, tagging conventions, creative and placement configuration, trafficking controls, QA standards and technical escalation.
Maintain strong working knowledge of ad servers, DSPs, SSPs, verification/measurement partners, MMPs, identity/data partners, rich media and video/CTV technologies.
Act as the Media Operations-to-MarTech liaison for measurement and implementation needs, translating media requirements into actionable technical requirements and platform constraints into clear activation implications.
Lead Platform Operations support for Floodlights/conversion tagging, event taxonomies, CAPI/server-to-server patterns, offline conversion flows, identifiers/deduplication, data layers and related measurement dependencies.
Build working fluency in Google Tag Manager and Adobe Tags/Launch sufficient to review configurations, participate in QA, document evidence and isolate platform-versus-site issues without assuming production engineering or publish authority.
Own production and QA governance, launch readiness, discrepancy management, incident escalation and root-cause analysis; convert recurring failures into stronger standards, training, controls, documentation or tooling.
Maintain SOPs, playbooks, decision/RAID logs, issue trackers, access maps and knowledge repositories that improve traceability, onboarding and resilience.
Serve as the senior client- and agency-facing Platform Operations leader, advise client Media and MarTech stakeholders, translate technical risks into business implications, and lead material vendor/platform escalations through resolution.
Own a prioritized transformation roadmap spanning standardization, automation, platform adoption and appropriate work migration; sponsor responsible use of approved AI tools with accountable human review and measurable quality, cycle-time or capacity benefits.
Build team capability across ad serving, measurement, tag management, troubleshooting, governance and consultative behavior; create stretch opportunities for team members to lead technical workstreams and client discussions.
Provide executive reporting and recommendations on operational health, material risks, capacity, investment needs, transformation progress and measurable value; shape scopes of work, staffing models, service commitments and remediation plans with senior leadership.
Required Skills and Qualifications
10+ years of professional experience, including 7+ years in ad operations, platform operations, media technology, measurement operations or a closely related discipline; demonstrated leadership of teams and complex enterprise client or agency portfolios.
Deep practical knowledge of Campaign Manager 360 and strong familiarity with Google Marketing Platform and end-to-end digital media activation.
Strong understanding of digital measurement and implementation concepts, including Floodlights/conversion tags, pixels, APIs/CAPI patterns, event identifiers, deduplication, data layers and tag-management workflows.
Working familiarity with GTM and/or Adobe Tags/Launch, including containers/properties, tags, triggers/rules, variables/data elements, environments, publishing workflows and QA/debugging.
Knowledge of major social/walled-garden platforms, programmatic ecosystems, verification, mobile measurement and data/identity vendors and how they interconnect.
Advanced troubleshooting, project management, client communication and executive presence, with the judgment to route configuration, platform, site/app, data-flow and process issues to the correct owner.
Proven people leadership, coaching, performance-management and workforce-planning capability; experience governing onshore and offshore/shared-service delivery strongly preferred.
Ability to evaluate new platforms, workflow changes, automation and AI-assisted use cases through operational, governance, adoption, risk and business-value lenses.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience; relevant platform, measurement or change-management certifications are beneficial but do not substitute for applied expertise.
Leadership Expectations and Success
Success means reliable campaign and measurement operations, stronger QA and fewer repeat defects, faster issue closure, effective onshore/offshore collaboration, stronger platform adoption and documentation, visible team development, and senior stakeholder confidence in Platform Operations as a solutions-oriented business partner.
Role Boundaries
Platform Operations owns operational governance, platform stewardship, implementation assurance, documentation, QA coordination, issue management and continuous improvement within defined scope. The role partners with Media/Investment, Marketing Science/Analytics and MarTech/Engineering/IT, but does not absorb enterprise architecture, production engineering, attribution methodology, privacy/legal determinations or specialist consultancy deliverables.
