As a Principal Data Center Solutions Architect, you will serve as a senior technical advisor supporting Wesco''s Global Data Center Solutions business. Drawing on extensive data center experience, you will help customers evaluate operational, capacity, resiliency, and infrastructure challenges and develop solutions aligned with business objectives. This role requires expertise in mission-critical facilities, including power, cooling, physical infrastructure, and facility operations. You will work closely with customers, sales teams, delivery resources, manufacturers, and industry partners to assess environments, identify risks, and improve reliability, efficiency, and scalability. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience operating, maintaining, designing, commissioning, or supporting critical data centers and can effectively engage both technical and executive stakeholders on data center infrastructure and operational best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert for data center power, cooling, and physical infrastructure solutions.
- Evaluate customer environments and recommend strategies to improve reliability, resiliency, efficiency, and capacity utilization.
- Develop technical solutions involving AC and DC power systems, UPS infrastructure, generators, switchgear, PDUs, busway, containment, cabinets, and related technologies.
- Provide guidance on air-cooling strategies, thermal management, airflow optimization, and data center capacity planning.
- Conduct data center assessments, site surveys, and infrastructure evaluations to identify risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities.
- Translate customer business objectives and operational requirements into practical infrastructure recommendations and solution roadmaps.
- Develop solution summaries, technical documentation, statements of work, bills of material, and proposal content.
- Support RFP responses, technical evaluations, and customer design reviews.
- Deliver customer presentations, workshops, and executive briefings focused on infrastructure strategy, operational performance, and technology roadmaps.
- Partner with sales teams to identify opportunities and position Wesco''s data center capabilities and services.
- Collaborate with delivery teams, manufacturers, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout implementation activities.
- Provide technical leadership during solution validation, deployment planning, and project execution.
- Share industry best practices and technical expertise through customer engagements, training sessions, conferences, and industry events.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, market trends, data center standards, and evolving customer requirements.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience required.
- Bachelor''s degree in a technical discipline preferred.
- 10+ years of experience within data center operations, critical facilities, commissioning, design, infrastructure deployment, or mission-critical environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in data center electrical infrastructure, including AC/DC power distribution, UPS systems, generators, PDUs, switchgear, and related critical power technologies.
- Strong understanding of data center cooling systems, thermal management, airflow optimization, and cooling capacity planning.
- Experience evaluating facility resiliency, redundancy models, uptime requirements, operational risk, and infrastructure scalability.
- Working knowledge of cabinets, containment, structured cabling, and physical layer infrastructure.
- Experience performing site assessments, infrastructure audits, commissioning activities, or operational readiness evaluations.
- Ability to interpret technical requirements and develop practical, business-focused recommendations.
- Strong customer-facing communication, presentation, and consulting skills.
- Experience supporting technical sales engagements, solution development, or customer advisory activities preferred.
- BICSI DCDC certification strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel up to 40%.

This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements.
For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents. For certain sales roles, Wesco also offers a commission structure that provides additional compensation based on sales results, as defined by the applicable commission plan.
