Job Summary:
The Community UtilityAssociate performs a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean andsanitary conditions of Community food services, facilities, and equipment.He/she is responsible for washing dishes, washing pots and pans , general and equipmentcleaning, storage and rotation of food and supplies as well as the removal of all garbage; leaving machinery empty, clean, and dry;and keeping floors clean after each meal.
Responsibilities:- Follows the posted work schedule andarrives on time and in appropriate work attire
- Responsible for the proper washing ofchina, flatware, glassware, and other kitchen equipment including machine rinsepressure and water temperature
- Responsible for maintaining thekitchen and other assigned areas in a sanitary condition
- Establishes and maintainsconstructive working relationships with other kitchen personnel and residents
- Must be familiar with food-handlingprocedures and regulations
- Must know how to operate kitchenappliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine
- May be required to help with foodpreparation, inventory, and maintenance as well as food deliveries and stockingshelves
- Follow all emergency procedures
- Understands all safety practices andprocedures
- Reports on-the-job injuries to theCommunity Cook and/or Food & Beverage Director before the end of the workshift on the day the injury occurs
- Communicates effectively with Food& Beverage Director and other staff
- Advises Food & Beverage Directorof any changes in physical or mental health of a resident immediately
- Maintains an acceptable attendance record, notifies Food & Beverage Director if he/she expects to be late or unable to work in accordance with personnel policies, and follows work schedule
Qualifications:- HighSchool diploma preferred/ GED accepted
- Some kitchen experience is desirable
- Basic knife skills required
- Abilityto handle multiple priorities
- Musthave organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Physically able to bend and reach
- Physically able to push and pull andlift up to 40-50 pounds if necessary
- Physically able to standfor extended periods of time
Miscellaneous- May be required to work weekends and holidays as assigned
- May be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired
- May be required to work extended hours (up to 16 hours per day)
- May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B and C viruses
- Could be subject to hostile and emotionally upset Residents due to mental status
- Must be in good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases
- Background, criminal, and drug tests may be required
- May be asked to submit to random drug test during employment
- May have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising
- May be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents' apartments
