Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, Supply Chain, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in operations and transportation, preferably in the Hazmat / chemical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
  • Proven track record in strategic planning, operational execution, and logistics management spanning a nationwide influence with in-house and third-party carrier services, including, but not limited to, in-house drivers and owner operators
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise in day-to-day technological applications - use of Microsoft tools for report building, communication, analyzation of data, and presentation preparation for internal and external meetings

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the production, storage, and distribution of gases, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Monitor departmental performance and enforce compliance with safety protocols, regulatory standards, and internal policies.
  • Implement manufacturing practices that maximize resource utilization and output across all operational areas.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of transportation operations, ensuring streamlined delivery processes.
  • Oversee on-time, secure deliveries, including hazardous materials, while managing fleet vehicles, drivers, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Manage trucking operations, including dispatching, tracking, and monitoring of tractors, trailers, and vans, as well as freight sales, invoicing, and payroll.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with long-term organizational objectives.
  • Drive initiatives focused on process optimization, cost reduction, and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and operational teams to support organizational growth and market expansion.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and industry-specific standards.
  • Enforce best practices in the handling and transportation of specialty chemicals and related materials.
  • Lead efforts to maintain DOT and safety compliance within trucking operations.
  • Develop and manage operational and transportation budgets, analyzing financial performance to identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers, distributors, and logistics providers to secure favorable terms.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring a high-performing operations and transportation team.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement while implementing performance metrics to measure and reward achievements.
  • Support the recruitment and retention of CDL drivers with HAZMAT/Tanker endorsements.
  • Negotiate competitive rates and contracts with customers and business partners.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, drivers, and owner-operators.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints regarding product delivery and transportation concerns, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Recommend replacement or acquisition of equipment based on operational needs, performance evaluations, and budget considerations.
  • Seek and maintain partnerships with equipment operators, including both in-house personnel and third-party providers.
