Dispatcher - Maritime

CBIZ Talent Solutions is seeking a Full-Time Dispatcher to support our marine services client in the Newport, RI area. This highly visible position serves as the central coordination point between pilots, vessel agents, ship crews, pilot boats, tug operators, and other maritime stakeholders to ensure safe, timely, and efficient operations.

Position Summary

The Dispatcher plays a critical role in daily maritime operations by coordinating pilot assignments, vessel movements, and transportation logistics while maintaining clear communication with all parties involved. This position requires excellent organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule and assign pilots for vessel arrivals, departures, shifts, and other vessel movements in accordance with established rotation procedures.
• Coordinate pilot boat operations and crews to ensure timely transportation of pilots.
• Monitor vessel traffic and adjust schedules based on weather conditions, tides, vessel requirements, traffic levels, and operational constraints.
• Communicate assignments, schedule changes, delays, hazards, and other operational information to pilots, agents, crews, and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate operational records, logs, billing information, and administrative documentation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based systems.
• Previous dispatch, operational coordination, maritime operations, military command center, Coast Guard, Vessel Traffic Service (VTS), or related experience preferred.

This is a full-time position with a rotating schedule based on vessel traffic and operational requirements. Regular daytime, nighttime, weekend, holiday, and on-call availability is required.

Annual Salary: $61,500 + overtime
