Distance Learning Online Course Teacher JobID: 2573 Position Type: Instructional/InstructionDate Posted: 10/7/2026Location: Technology Services Closing Date: 10/18/2026 Additional Information: Show/HideLOCATION OF POSITION: Fairport, NY 14450; Virtual InstructionTERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Part Time Hourly Temporary Work, up to 40 hours/semester; 2/1/2027-6/30/2027STARTING DATE: February 1, 2027SALARY RANGE: $50.00/hour Description: The Distance Learning Online Teacher is responsible for delivering online instruction to students enrolled in a course from the Distance Learning Course Catalog EdVantage: Innovative Courses for Flexible Learners. Instruction occurs outside of the traditional school day (evenings) during the spring semester only. Teachers are expected to be online for a total of two (2) hours per week: one (1) hour of scheduled direct instruction and one (1) hour of open office hours to provide student support as needed.The targeted student profile includes independent learners who are highly interested in the content and highly motivated to engage in online learning. Teachers selected for this position are expected to participate in Virtual Implementation of Teaching and Learning (VITAL) training (offered each fall). Training will include dedicated time for teachers to utilize course content within the Schoology learning management system (LMS) in preparation for delivering the online course. In addtion, teachers will receive a Zoom account and training for delivery of instruction. Duties:1. Deliver instruction for high school students in accordance with NYS mandates and standards.2. Implement developed lesson plans utilizing best practices.3. Follow approved telecommuting guidelines.4. Provide one-hour synchronous instruction 1x/week for 20 weeks.5. Provide one-hour synchronous office hours for students 1x/week for 20 weeks.6. Ongoing communication regarding any concerns for students not making adequate progress.7. Effectively communicate with students, parents, and district liaisons, responding to all inquiries within 24 business hours.8. Participate in on-going VITAL training.9. Teachers are expected to utilize Schoology as the learning management system and Zoom for synchronous instruction. Training and support will be provided. Qualifications:1. New York State Teaching Certification required.2. Knowledge and experience planning for and implementing NYS standards.3. Familiarity with Schoology and Zoom.4. Successful completion or current enrollment in Virtual Implementation of Teaching and Learning (VITAL) Training provided by Monroe One BOCES, or documentation of comparable training.5. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
