    Leidos is seeking a Distribution Designer who is passionate about electric utility design engineering. We’re looking for someone who is dedicated to ensuring that every project, no matter how simple or complex, is of exceptional quality. You'll be working directly with clients to make sure that Leidos' reputation for high-quality work is always maintained. If you join us in this role, you'll gain expertise in a variety of areas, including NESC, Structural Pole Modeling, Electrical Power Calculations, GIS design training, Field Data Collection, and Client Design Standards.     Travel: 
    This position has remote-working capabilities, but candidates must be located within a commutable distance of our Western PA support areas to be considered, so we can provide support to our local utility customer as needed.

    As a Distribution Designer, you can expect to:

    • With supervision of a technical lead, perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers.

    • Contribute to your team's work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects, using customer GIS and Work Management systems

    • Work with other engineers and design leads on broad client issues including schedule adherence and team quality control; manage scope, schedule, and budget of work assigned.

    • Ability to follow standard design guidelines and client requirements.

    • Successful candidates must comply with quality control and safe work practices and maintain compliance with project scope, schedule and budget. This position will be a member of a design team comprised of engineers, designers, and CAD technicians and will work with client standards to implement design.

    What Sets You Apart (Background Requirements):

    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    • 0+ years of relevant experience. Education will be considered in lieu of experience.

    • Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques and procedures.

    • Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with a high level of attention to details.

    • Proficiency with Windows operating system environments.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

    • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.

    • Highly organized and efficient.

    • Ability to perform tasks in a fast paced engineering/production environment.

    • Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, as some customer-related travel could be anticipated (Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates)

    • Willingness to perform both field and office work; Ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion; The role may require customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages

    • Candidates should possess valid U.S. driver's license, as some local or regional travel is expected

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Distribution design and Utility client experience

    • Knowledge of protection & control design experience

    • Experience with file sharing, document management and collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, FTP, SharePoint, etc.

    • Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.

    Pay Range:

    Pay Range $35,100.00 - $63,450.00

    The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
