Distribution Designer

Description

We are seeking a Distribution Designer/Engineer with 1-3 years of Utility Distribution design and engineering experience. This role will join the Distribution Team in the Maitland (Orlando) office supporting overhead and underground distribution line projects for local utilities (Duke Energy, FPL, Tampa Electric). Projects may include pole replacements, transformers, reclosers, reconductoring, insulators, and voltage conversions, utilizing software such as GTECH, Bentley Open Utilities Designer (BOUD), Maximo, and Pole Foreman. This position requires field work and site visits as part of regular job responsibilities.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Design electrical distribution projects with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness
• Organize and manage workload to ensure projects are completed through final delivery
• Meet assigned deadlines while maintaining high-quality design standards
• Communicate professionally and effectively with customers and internal stakeholders
• Maintain consistent quality within a structured and deadline-driven environment
• Perform field work and attend field meetings as required based on project needs
• Participate in internal and external meetings as necessary

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Primary Qualifications:

• 1-3 Years of Distribution Design experience
• Ability to follow prescribed standards and procedures.
• Demonstrated leadership and technical capability to perform to job responsibilities
• PLS CADD experience highly preferred
• Experience with Tampa Electric projects highly preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Engineering Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) from an 4-year ABET-Accredited Institution or University
• SEDS experience preferred
• Cable Pulling Assistant (CPA) experience

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Tampa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
