Primary Purpose:
- Supports campus staff in learning and applying best practices in science instruction in the classroom.
- Spends time at the campus level, planning, coaching and facilitating staff and student learning.
- Designs, models and facilitates ongoing and embedded quality professional learning.
- Serves as a liaison between campus and Learner Services.
- Participates in the development and implementation of district curriculum.
Qualifications: Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree
- Master's degree preferred
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong instructional skills in science education, integrating technology, inquiry learning, outdoor and STEM education
- Experience integrating science resources and best practices into classroom instruction and professional learning
- Ability to assist teachers in acquiring skills to effectively utilize digital learning tools and implement blended learning instructional design practices
- Current knowledge and application of educational research on best practices
- Knowledge of the relationship of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, and Technology
- Deep understanding of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
- Experience with curriculum development and alignment
- Ability to assist teachers in instructional design
- Experience with designing and facilitating quality professional learning
- Ability to disaggregate and analyze data
- Evidence of campus and/or district leadership
- Ability to effectively communicate with others in written, interpersonal, and verbal formats, including listening
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with administrators, learning support specialists, teachers, staff, and students
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
Experience:
- At least three years of teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Promotes and models effective instructional strategies when working with teachers to improve instruction and student learning in Science.
- Collaborates with coordinators and campus staff to ensure implementation of district curriculum by participating in campus team/department meetings and/or assisting individual teachers in designing lessons, examining student work, monitoring student progress, assessing the effectiveness of instruction, and identifying needs for professional learning.
- Collaborates with coordinators and campus staff in the design and development of curriculum documents and resources.
- Supports best practices in instruction with campus and district staff in a variety of educational settings.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the appropriate application of digital tools for instruction in science and assists teachers in effectively integrating technology where appropriate.
- Collaborates with campus and district administrators to design, coordinate, and facilitate professional learning.
- Delivers high-quality professional learning and ongoing support of science.
- Builds staff capacity through instructional coaching and gives feedback to learning support specialists and teachers.
- Works collaboratively with the Learner Services team to ensure student success.
- Supports the goals and implementation of the district's instructional programs.
- Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined by TEA Code of Ethics for education.
- Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
