Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or Teaching Certificate from out of state appropriate for position.
- A minimum of 30 clock hours training in gifted education or a G/T Supplemental Certificate (or in process)
- Teaching experience in all core areas preferred
- Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to plan and implement lessons for GT students at various locations throughout the district
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in the effective use of technology
- Knowledge of GT classroom management
- Ability to collaborate with other teachers and share instructional with SBISD staff
- Ability to organize work with assigned campus schedules
Major Duties and
Responsibilities:
Duties:
- Research and use new materials, methodologies, and philosophies related to gifted and talented students to create instructional activities that are engaging, accelerated and rigorous
- Understand data and its role in planning for instruction for GT students
- Collaboratively plan student activities, programs, and field trips
- Maintain accurate and complete student records
- Communicate with parents and other pertinent personnel concerning students' development
- Project a positive image to the community
