    Description

    Mechanical Design Engineer

    Location: Tucson, AZ
    Schedule: Full-time, onsite
    Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
    Clearance: Active Secret clearance required

    Role Overview

    We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support hardware design, development, integration, and production for critical defense systems. This role requires a strong mix of mechanical hardware design experience, system integration capability, production support, and program execution ownership.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead mechanical hardware design efforts from early concept definition through detailed design and production support

    • Develop and support mechanical designs using 3D CAD tools and product data management systems

    • Support hardware development, design reviews, prototype builds, fabrication, integration, and production readiness

    • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve mechanical design, integration, and production issues

    • Support transition of mechanical hardware from engineering development into manufacturing and production environments

    • Coordinate with systems, electrical, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to support technical execution

    • Maintain design documentation, configuration control, and product data throughout the hardware lifecycle

    • Provide technical direction and support for mechanical hardware, assemblies, and equipment packaging

    Required Qualifications

    • Active Secret security clearance

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM discipline

    • 5–10 years of mechanical engineering, mechanical hardware design, or related product development experience

    • Proven experience supporting concept definition, detailed design, transition to production, and production support

    • Hands-on experience with 3D CAD design tools

    • Experience with product data management tools or configuration-controlled design environments

    • Strong mechanical design, integration, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment

    Desired Qualifications

    • Experience with design, fabrication, and integration of electronic assemblies

    • Experience with shelter assemblies, equipment packaging, or power distribution equipment

    • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or production hardware programs

    • Prior leadership of small to mid-sized technical teams

    • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

    • Self-driven technical leader with strong ownership of design execution and production support
