AutoCAD Facilities Drafter
Enginuity Advantage | Project Contract | North Everett WA
Position Summary
Enginuity Advantage is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Facilities Drafter for a project assignment with a public utility client. This person will update existing building records by converting legacy MicroStation drawings into AutoCAD, verifying conditions at client facilities, and preparing accurate as-built drawings.
The work is primarily architectural, with limited mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and furniture layout documentation where practical. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on AutoCAD skills and experience taking field measurements and translating observations into clear, usable drawings.
This is a non-union assignment employed through Enginuity Advantage. The project is estimated at approximately 4,000 hours. Actual duration will depend on the scope and pace of completion and may be shorter than the estimate.
Essential Responsibilities
Review existing building drawings and identify information requiring onsite verification or updates.
Visit client buildings and offices to verify existing conditions, including wall locations, openings, lighting, ceiling features, and other visible building elements within the assigned scope.
Take accurate measurements and organized field notes, then incorporate verified information into AutoCAD record drawings.
Convert legacy MicroStation files to AutoCAD and clean up layers, formatting, and other issues resulting from translation.
Prepare and update architectural plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and related building records as directed.
Document relevant mechanical, electrical, and plumbing information where accessible and practical, with guidance from the client team.
Provide limited furniture and workstation layout drafting support in coordination with facilities planners.
Check completed drawings for accuracy, readability, consistent formatting, and correct plotting.
Follow client drafting standards and contribute practical suggestions for organizing drawing conversion, field verification, and file maintenance.
Maintain organized drawing files and associated logs; identify unresolved discrepancies and request clarification as needed.
Coordinate work with the client manager, existing drafter, planners, engineers, and facility contacts.
Use assigned equipment responsibly and follow client site access and safety procedures.
Field verification involves recording existing conditions. This assignment does not include engineering design, formal condition assessments, or determining whether building components require repair or replacement. Obvious concerns should be reported to the client team.
Reporting and Collaboration
The client manager will direct daily work and project priorities. The drafter will work alongside an existing facilities drafter and collaborate with planners and engineers as needed. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
Advanced AutoCAD proficiency, with the ability to independently produce, revise, clean up, and plot technical drawings.
Demonstrated facilities or architectural drafting experience and familiarity with building plans, symbols, and drafting conventions.
Hands-on experience verifying existing building conditions onsite and preparing or updating as-built drawings.
Ability to take measurements, maintain clear field notes, and accurately translate findings into CAD drawings.
Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing information shown in building drawings.
Strong attention to detail, file organization, and follow-through.
Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with both office and field personnel.
Ability to learn client standards, processes, and software workflows.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client facilities.
Availability for two office days per week in North Everett and additional site visits as needed.
Comfort working on a project contract with an estimated duration that may change.
Preferred Qualifications
CAD drafting certification or related technical education. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
MicroStation familiarity or experience translating drawings between CAD platforms. The client can provide training on the conversion process.
Experience with Bluebeam or Revit.
Experience updating records for existing facilities or organizing legacy drawing files.
An architecture license is not required. Applicants should be prepared to share relevant drafting samples or a portfolio they are permitted to disclose. No fixed years-of-experience threshold is specified for this project; demonstrated proficiency and relevant field experience are the priorities.
Schedule and Work Location
The assignment follows a hybrid schedule with two office days per week in North Everett. Remote work is available for other days when site visits or project needs do not require attendance. Site visits may be scheduled on otherwise remote days.
Weekday start times are flexible, including earlier starts, provided there is sufficient overlap with the client team and availability for scheduled site work. Weekend work is not anticipated. Weekly hours and the start date will be confirmed during the hiring process.
Travel and Working Conditions
Work includes computer-based drafting in an office or approved remote setting and visits to client buildings for measurements and verification. Duties involve frequent keyboard and mouse use. Site visits may include exposure to dust and other facility conditions.
The client can provide measuring tools. Transportation may involve a client vehicle following required driving training or a personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement. The final arrangement will be confirmed based on applicable client requirements and Enginuity insurance coverage.
Compensation and Benefits
The approved hourly pay range is pending confirmation. Compensation and any benefits available through Enginuity Advantage will be reviewed during the hiring process.
