What You'll Do:
The Driller Helper supports geotechnical drilling operations by assisting with the setup, operation, and maintenance of drilling equipment while ensuring safe work practices on-site. This role involves handling materials, collecting samples, performing routine maintenance, and working closely with the Driller to ensure efficient and accurate subsurface investigations. The Driller Helper maintains a positive customer service attitude and demonstrates an understanding of ECS Core Values.
Responsibilities
- Assists with drilling operations, including borings and Geoprobe work
- Locates boring positions in the field using maps, plans, or GPS systems
- Records required drilling data accurately
- Reports project-specific issues to the Project Manager or Supervisor
- Performs routine maintenance on drill rigs and support trucks and reports repair needs
- Follows company safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment
- Loads drill rigs and support vehicles with necessary supplies each day
- Completes timesheets and field documentation promptly and accurately
- Cares for and cleans assigned company vehicles, drilling equipment, and other tools
- Maintains professional behavior and quality standards
- Works out of town and on non-standard schedules as required
- Performs other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
- High School diploma or GED required
- 0 years of related experience
- If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
- OSHA 40 certification (preferred)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans
- Ability to interpret field data
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work effectively under close supervision
- Hands-on experience with drill rigs, drilling procedures, and sampling methods (preferred)
- Ability to travel overnight as needed for project-related work
