Job Functions:

• Performs a wide range of manual duties associated with the collection of curbside residential and commercial garbage including grass bags, brush, and collecting loose leaves during leaf season.
• Position trucks for loading and drive tandem axle commercial vehicles to haul load to landfill or mulch site.
• Must be able to drive various light equipment such as pick-up trucks, and dump trucks.
• Flag traffic around work site.
• Uses various hand tools to rake and move materials such as tree limbs, shrubs, etc.
• Operates trash and garbage collection equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to read and understand operation manuals.
• Working knowledge of operating procedures for various light equipment.
• Knowledge of standard safety practices.
• Knowledge of basic tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow oral/written instructions.
• Ability to communicate with co-workers.
• Ability to drive standard shift vehicles.
• Physical ability to perform essential job duties.

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• The ability to read and write sentences with common vocabulary.

Special Requirements:

• Must pass a background screen, driver's license verification and physical exam, including a drug test.
• Must be able to drive and have a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License, with air brakes, which must remain valid as a condition of continued employment. Must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Clearinghouse.

Working Conditions:

• Works outside exposed to extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
• Subject to hazards of construction work and traffic.
• Subject to excessive noise from equipment.
• Occasionally exposed to dampness, dust, and unsanitary conditions.
• Subject to handling and breathing irritating substance.
• Subject to heavy lifting, as much as 50 lbs. a distance of four feet from the ground.
• Subject to extensive standing and stooping.
• Frequently requires balancing, reaching and handling.
• On occasion, may be required to work long hours in situations such as heavy output of garbage and trash.
• Must wear all safety equipment in accordance with safety regulations.

This is a federal requirement for all CDL holders, and this registration must be completed before the hiring process. We will run a full query with the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
