Job Title: Driver / Shipping Operator
Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Driver to join our customer a global aerospace parts manufacturer. . This role combines local driving responsibilities with essential shipping and dock operations. The ideal candidate will ensure all quality, safety, and productivity requirements are met in a cost-effective manner while safely operating company delivery vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Driving Operations: Safely drive company delivery vehicles between vendors, facilities, and other designated areas.
Shipment Planning: Collaborate with management and quality teams to align with weekly shipment plans and proactively problem-solve any shipment errors.
Safety & Efficiency: Follow and enforce all company safety rules and meet established efficiency standards.
Cost Management: Identify, implement, and track cost-reduction activities related to trucking and shipping logistics.
Specific Duties
Logistics & Documentation: Coordinate with shipping and trucking companies. Prepare comprehensive shipment paperwork, including Bills of Lading (BOL), labels, waybills, export declarations, certifications, and required customs documentation.
Shipment Preparation: Affix shipping labels to packed cartons. Prepare final outgoing shipments, including weighing, quantity verification, banding, commercial documentation, and loading onto common carrier trucks.
Inventory & Supplies: Track inventory on shipping containers and dock supplies (e.g., corrugated containers and miscellaneous warehouse supplies).
Communication: Proactively communicate shortages, logistics issues, or delays to the Operations Manager, purchasing, and Customer Service Representatives. Provide seamless shift-to-shift communication to keep the team aligned.
Equipment & Traffic Control: Monitor forklift daily checks, report findings, and coordinate truck traffic to align with daily business needs.
Teamwork: Maintain a organized workspace and a positive work atmosphere. Handle any additional duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Previous professional truck driving experience is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and freight rates.
Experience operating a forklift (and conducting daily safety checks) is a plus.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail with paperwork/documentation.
