POSITION SUMMARY

The Community College of Aurora is seeking a passionate and experienced Education Instructor to engage in the College's educational initiatives and ensure high-quality learning experiences for students. The Education instructor, working directly under the Chair of Education, will be responsible for teaching within the Education programs, potentially including courses in Early Childhood Education, Education, and Special Education. This role involves collaborating with educational partners to ensure programs meet the needs of students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. OVERVIEW OF CCA

The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain expertise in the subject area and effectively teach assigned courses.
• Develop inclusive lesson plans, activities, and assessments that lead students to the successful attainment of identified course competencies and outcomes.
• Evaluate student demonstration of outcomes in a constructive, timely, and effective manner as stated in the course syllabus.
• Participate in program assessment and evaluations and analyze feedback for continuous improvement.
• Complete all required instructional professional development activities including a departmental orientation and multiple trainings during their first semester.
• Participate in ongoing relationships within the community, including fostering the program responsiveness to the needs of external partners.
• Collaborate with district partners, mentor teachers, school-based supervisors, and college personnel to integrate apprenticeship experience.
• Be knowledgeable about pedagogy, methods, retention, inclusion, and assessment of outcomes (or be available and willing to receive training in these areas).
• Attend required meetings as called by the Department Chair, Dean, or Vice President of Academic Success.
• Participate in coaching/mentoring initiatives established by the Department Chair and Dean.
• Understand and uphold the vision, mission, and values of the college, while abiding by all relevant CCA guidelines, and CCCS/SBCCOE policies and procedures.
• According to established timelines and expectations, create and provide a course syllabus for each assigned class to the department. Provide students with department approved syllabi by the first day of classes in the LMS.
• Maintain accurate records according to department/division/college expectations and guidelines, including Instructional Guideline 2.11, in the college LMS - Desire2Learn (D2L). Submit required records according to published instructions and deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• An in-hand Master's degree in Education, Teacher Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, Special Education, Elementary Education, or a closely related education field.
• Experience teaching courses for multiple delivery formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online instruction.
• Experience teaching elementary education, special education, literacy, mathematics, classroom management, assessment, or other teacher preparation coursework
• Demonstrated knowledge of Colorado educator licensure requirements, Colorado Teacher Quality Standards, and applicable Colorado teacher preparation requirements.
• Strong understanding of educational theories and best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully communicate and work effectively with individuals and teams, from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Colorado Residency Required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience teaching in both K-12 and post-secondary settings.
• Experience with programming and teacher licensure requirements in the state of Colorado.
• Demonstrated understanding of apprenticeship, work-based learning, or other structured clinical/field-based teacher preparation models, or willingness to complete training in apprenticeship program requirements.
• Current or prior Colorado teacher licensure or demonstrated experience working within a Colorado-approved teacher preparation/licensure program.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Salary Range: The starting rate is $1,213.00 per credit hour taught.
