Educational Diagnostician
Performance Responsibilities
I. MANAGEMENT
II. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
attends staff, professional, and interagency meetings including those assigned
keeps abreast of new developments in the area of educational diagnosis and keeps other appropriate school personnel informed of the same
participates in planned professional growth activities
III. COMMUNICATION AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS
explains and interprets the educational assessment program to parents, teachers, principals, and other members of the parish school system
confers with parents, teachers, principals, the supervisor of special education and other parish professional staff whenever necessary on matters relative to assessment, behavioral interventions, exceptional children, learning, teaching strategies, recommended interventions, and other areas within the expertise of the educational diagnostician
cooperates with personnel of community health and social service agencies
IV. CLINICAL SKILLS
enables students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by providing a full-range of educational diagnostician services to students in need of such assistance
assists teachers and other school personnel in the design and implementation of educational and behavioral interventions of referred pupils
V. PROFESSIONAL EFFICIENCY
assists in maintaining accurate case records on all clients regarding enrollment in the educational assessment program, initial screening and individual evaluation and other services provided by the educational diagnostician in accordance with the requirements of parish, state, and federal laws, regulations and/or policies
provides a written report of any educational assessment services provided to students
VI. POLICY IMPLEMENTATION
evaluates as a member of the multidisciplinary team and in accordance with the guidelines set forth in Bulletin 1508 and the regulations implementing Act 754, those pupils suspected of being in need of special educational services
maintains confidentiality of all student records in compliance with state and federal laws
performs other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the superintendent and/or his designee.

METHOD OF EVALUATION
The combination of the applicable measure of growth in student learning and the qualitative assessment of performance competencies and standards shall result in a composite score used to distinguish levels of overall effectiveness.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
