The Electrical Assistant Supervisor supports the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor in directing daily electrical maintenance at a mission-critical data center. This role leads and mentors Tier 1–3 technicians, performs hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting of critical power systems such as generators, UPS, switchgear, transformers, and PDUs, and serves as the first point of escalation for complex issues. The Assistant Supervisor enforces LOTO, arc flash, and NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B safety standards, oversees contractors, maintains CMMS records, responds to power alarms and emergencies, and directs shift operations when the primary supervisor is offsite.
What you’ll be doing
Assign daily work, review shift schedules, and prioritize open work orders for the electrical team. Run shift operations when the primary supervisor is offsite.
Perform maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on critical power systems, including backup generators, UPS systems, switchgear, transformers, and PDUs.
Review methods of procedure (MOPs) and safety checklists before work begins. Confirm switching steps are clear, risks are identified, and backup power paths are verified.
Lead daily pre-job safety briefings. Enforce LOTO protocols and NFPA 70E standards, and make sure the crew consistently wears proper arc-flash protection and PPE.
Escort and monitor outside contractors and vendors performing specialized service or testing. Verify their work meets quality standards and facility rules.
Keep accurate records of completed tasks, equipment run hours, and spare parts in the CMMS. Make sure inspection logs and test reports are properly filed.
Train and mentor junior technicians on maintenance tasks, diagnostic tools, and safe work habits through consistent day-to-day coaching.
Respond immediately to power alarms and system interruptions during shifts and on-call rotations. Assist with emergency recovery to protect the critical data center load.
Other duties may be assigned.
