We are seeking an Electrical CAD Technician (Substation) for a contract-to-hire opportunity with our client in Fort Worth, TX. This is an intermediate-level production role for an individual with solid CAD drafting skills who is ready to take on increasingly complex and non-routine assignments.
The Electrical CAD Technician will support electrical and substation projects by preparing and revising 2D drawings and developing 3D equipment models based on engineering redlines, markups, reference CAD files, sketches, and manufacturer cut sheets.
Prepare, revise, and update electrical drawings, layouts, details, schematics, and wiring drawings based on engineering markups and reference information.
Develop 3D parts and equipment models using Autodesk Inventor based on dimensions, manufacturer cut sheets, and reference files.
Set up discipline-specific drawings, sheet sets, borders, and templates at project startup.
Apply established company and client drafting standards, layering conventions, and project requirements.
Interpret engineering redlines, sketches, layouts, vendor drawings, and technical documentation.
Coordinate directly with engineers and design originators to clarify drawing information and resolve discrepancies.
Review completed drawings for accuracy, completeness, and conformance with project requirements before submission.
Utilize advanced CAD commands, shortcuts, routines, and other productivity tools to maintain efficient drawing production.
Provide basic drafting guidance and support to entry-level drafting personnel as needed.
Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and other members of the electrical project team.
Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), Drafting Technology, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 2 years of related CAD drafting experience.
Proficiency with AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling.
Ability to work with additional CAD platforms as needed, including AutoCAD Electrical and Bentley MicroStation.
Strong understanding of drafting principles, practices, and drawing production.
Ability to read and interpret engineering redlines, drawing layouts, sketches, and manufacturer/vendor cut sheets.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings.
Ability to work effectively as part of an electrical engineering and design team.
