Experience/Qualifications/Expectations:
Lead and manage the electrical commissioning process from project planning through final turnover and closeout.
Develop commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, checklists, and documentation.
Review project drawings, specifications, submittals, equipment information, and commissioning requirements.
Coordinate commissioning activities with project managers, superintendents, foremen, engineers, owners, general contractors, vendors, and third-party commissioning agents.
Establish commissioning requirements and milestones early in the project to ensure systems are ready for testing.
Track installation completion, deficiencies, punch lists, testing requirements, and system readiness.
Develop and oversee pre-functional and functional testing procedures for electrical systems.
Coordinate and/or perform testing of switchgear, switchboards, transformers, automatic transfer switches, generators, UPS systems, battery systems, protective relays, grounding and bonding systems, power monitoring, lighting controls, and related electrical equipment.
Coordinate third-party testing agencies and specialty commissioning vendors.
Review test reports and verify that results meet project specifications and applicable standards.
Identify, document, and drive resolution of commissioning deficiencies.
Maintain commissioning logs, test records, deficiency logs, and turnover documentation.
Participate in project meetings and provide commissioning status updates to project leadership and clients.
Work with field teams to resolve installation issues that could affect system performance or commissioning.
Ensure commissioning activities remain aligned with the overall project schedule.
Coordinate integrated systems testing where applicable.
Support owner training and final system turnover.
Ensure all commissioning documentation is complete and organized for project closeout.
Promote a strong culture of safety and ensure commissioning activities are performed in accordance with company policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
7+ years of experience in electrical construction, electrical commissioning, electrical testing, or a related field.
Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems and electrical construction practices.
Experience commissioning complex electrical systems and equipment.
Knowledge of National Electrical Code and applicable local building codes.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, plans, specifications, and equipment documentation.
Strong understanding of electrical testing methodologies and commissioning procedures.
Experience coordinating testing agencies, vendors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Experience with medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
Experience with generators, paralleling systems, UPS systems, ATS equipment, emergency power systems, and/or protective relays is a plus.
Knowledge of applicable NFPA and IEEE standards is a plus.
Quality-oriented, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and safety-focused.
Strong project management, organizational, and time-management skills.
Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, engineers, contractors, and field personnel.
Ability to prioritize tasks, make sound decisions, and proactively address potential issues.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic project documentation systems.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Ability to work in active construction environments and participate in field testing activities
